We had the good fortune of connecting with Alex Peña and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Alex, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking.
I just realized I couldn’t wait for things to happen on someone else’s terms. I couldn’t just sit down and wait for the casting call to get a chance at doing anything, I had to take the reins to create opportunities for me and others like me who are always looking to work and grow.

When we just wait for things to happen, nothing will. If we acknowledge the fear and anxiety, but then act, even while feeling it, things start to change.

We start moving towards our goals.

Risks are good. They make us stay awake, aware, focused, but at the same time, if we are not careful, they can freeze us, make us overcome by fear. Then we stop moving and thinking clearly.

There will alway be risk in everything we do, it’s just about facing it, learning from it and moving forward.

Art, as life itself, can be pushed forward because of facing those fears, those doubts, the anxiety and pain. If we are true to ourselves we may find something more powerful that connects us with other people. That is what will get us to success. Connection.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I really do want to help as many people as I can, connect, create and share stories all around the world. We can be such amazing creatures, with stories worth telling.

I got to where I am professionally by working hard on my craft, training a lot, focusing on what I wanted and sacrificing a lot of things to do it. Then I gave it my all to connect with as many amazing creators as I could and move around the world to create and tell stories with them.

It has not been easy… at all, but I don’t think anything worth while is.

I overcame the obstacles by staying true to my dreams, crying a lot, accepting that fear and pain and turning it into fuel to try harder, smarter, better each time. I am happy to be where I am right now, but I also know there’s still a long way to go. That’s kinda exciting, right? I guess loving what I do is also very important to stay in this path.

I’ve learned so much on this journey. I should probably write a book about it, haha.

I guess one very important thing I’d like to share is:
Always give it your all and you will never regret anything, but remember nothing is so important, we’re all gonna die and the universe will not stop, so enjoy it while it lasts.

I want the world to know that if we start being kinder to each other our lives well be so much easier and better.

Love IS the answer to the universe. I hope you all get to learn and experience that during your lives.

I wish you all the best.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
LA is amazing to visit. I’m just starting to become a real LAer myself. I have only been here for almost two years now and I love how many things there are to do here. I would try to do the most amazing thing about LA. Try real food from different cultures in the same city, then take one day to go to each of the following destinations, all inside LA: Beach, city, forest, mountain and desert.
That is something that still takes my breath away.
Surprisingly LA has an amazing theater scene, bigger than you would expect and some of the best food in the world without having to pay too much. Remember, expensive does not necessarily mean good.
Visit the local shops, you’ll be surprised.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My family has always been a driving and pushing force for me. My dad was my first supporter and die-hard fan, that gave me the confidence to push forward being an actor. My mom had a harder time understanding, but once she did and realized the fears she had were nothing compared to the effort I was putting out there, she became a pillar of support for me.
My siblings, have always supported me, I could even say they are investors in my business, which is me. I would not be able tu still be doing this without them. My brother in law has also supported me a lot, thanks bro.
I would have to mention so many people who have believed in me and helped, whether with kind words, connecting me to other people, just hearing me out, or lending a helping hand when in need. Thank you all, because one thing I can say for sure, no human is what they are on their own. We are all the result of our connections and the people that touch our lives.

To all of you who’ve made me who I am today. Thank you!
