We had the good fortune of connecting with Pierre Galant and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Pierre, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
Coming form a government employee background and mentality, I felt the universe has gradually shed all the false idols of “security” I was once relying on. I Started working for the French government, to then become a teacher in a private school. to Real Estate agent, first as an employee then as an independent contractor, to no real estate content producer which is 100% freelance. I felt the move was gradual. but I remember having had the bug for photography for a long time, not knowing how to actually make money from it. Until I hired a real estate photographer. I would also routinely hire other vendors such as home inspectors and one of them opened up to me about the money-making potential of his line of work. That was all I needed to get started.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I started as a Real Estate agent who was frustrated about the quality of Real Estate photography at
the time, so I decided to learn and start shooting my own listings. Other agents around my office
started hiring me as well to the point where I ended up doing photography full-time. With the advent
of social media, I predicted that the industry would be in need of abundant editorial-style images
that would depict a lifestyle instead of merely documenting “4 walls for sale”. I don’t shoot a space, I
shoot a feeling. The focus was shifting from the product to the agent and the lifestyle they
represent. Over time my photography has crossed over into the fields of Interior Design and
Architecture, but am particularly fond of shooting gardens as well as historical homes by well known
architects. My photographs are regularly featured in interior design and architecture publications.
Around 2017, a shift happened in my mindset, when I started claiming the word Artist for myself.
That same week, people started calling me an artist. I was blown away by the realization that that
claim had manifested a reality in my life so quickly.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Huntington Gardens. Storrier Stearns Garden. Howling Rays.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My Zen teacher, Eden Tull, was a deep influence. Her mentorship was instrumental in helping me release some of my “limitations” and the awareness practice she taught me is still central to my approach of life and work.
