Meet Desiree Vazquez | Mindfulness Coach & Mind-Body Practitioner

We had the good fortune of connecting with Desiree Vazquez and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Desiree, do you disagree with some advice that is more or less universally accepted?
“Have a plan B”. It sounds smart, right? But here’s the thing: having a Plan B can quietly keep you stuck in your comfort zone. Neuroscience shows that when your brain knows there’s a backup, it doesn’t go all in on Plan A. It relaxes, plays it safe, and avoids the risk. I deeply understand the need for security, but growth lives in that uncomfortable space where you don’t have an easy way out. If you’re always giving yourself an escape route, your brain starts choosing safety over stretch—familiarity over fulfillment.
So instead of leaning on Plan B, let it be the backup, not the mindset. You deserve to bet fully on your dreams.

What should our readers know about your business?
Mindfulness with Desiree is all about creating safe, heart-centered spaces for women to reconnect—with themselves and with others. I focus on mindfulness, nervous system regulation, and intentional living through coaching, workshops, retreats, and healing experiences that include sound healing, meditation, journaling, and somatic healing. My work helps people feel more grounded, more productive, and more at ease by teaching them how to regulate their nervous system and move through life with intention.
What makes my approach unique is how deeply it’s rooted in my personal journey—from navigating anxiety and depression to growing up feeling out of place as a Puerto Rican woman in the Bronx. I’ve explored many paths that lit me up, like producing reality TV, pursuing music, and teaching mindfulness to kids abroad. These lived experiences fuel my passion for helping others feel seen, supported, and empowered—without needing to “fix” themselves. I’ve also managed my autoimmune condition (Hashimoto’s) through holistic practices, which has only strengthened my belief in the power of this work.
It hasn’t always been easy, but every challenge has taught me the power of softness, vulnerability, and community. I want people to know they’re not alone—and that healing is available to everyone, just as they are. So come as you are to one of my events and leave feeling fully recharged and inspired!

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If my best friend came to visit for a week, I’d plan a perfect mix of relaxation, movement, and soulful fun. We’d spend two beach days—one in peaceful Laguna Beach for brunch and ice cream, and another in Santa Monica, biking or rollerblading along the ocean path. We’d hike Griffith Park, enjoy a sunset picnic at Barnsdall Art Park, and dance the night away at a vibrant salsa night. For mind-body nourishment, we’d do yoga and meditation at Black Dog, followed by a powerful class at THE CLASS in Santa Monica. We’d slow down at Descanso Gardens, and wrap up the trip by exploring a local wellness or creative event we’d find on the Bloomy app—maybe a sound bath, breathwork circle, or something unexpected and magical. By the end, they’d feel recharged, inspired, and definitely tempted to move here.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I dedicate this shoutout to those who pushed me to believe in my superpowers of leadership and holistic wellness. Thank you to my parents, my best friends & Professor Christine Johnson. And of course, all the therapists who helped me validate my needs.
