Meet Fairin Moon, Jake Vicious | Creatives and Co Founders of Vault Studio

We had the good fortune of connecting with Fairin Moon, Jake Vicious and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Fairin Moon, Jake Vicious, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
We founded Vault at the start of the pandemic – during a time where studios and venues across the world were shutting their doors. From the outside looking in, it likely appeared to be a crazy venture, but for us, it felt like a natural progression of the seeds that had been planted years before. Having had the opportunity to work and learn together in a studio that had such an impact on the creative community in the DMV, we knew what we had to do when presented with the opportunity to continue, and reimagine, that impact and legacy. We set out to build a safe space for creatives that seemed so needed in this time of crisis. Even if the house burns down, the Vault stays safe. We knew we could provide that encouraging environment to the community around us, and as creatives, felt very passionate about doing so.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Vault Studio is a 3000 square foot production studio outside of Washington DC. We boast a giant 15 foot wall to wall Cyclorama, three state of the art recording studios, and a creative commons for editing and collaboration. We have recently been lucky enough to host some of the world’s most renowned artists and influencers including G Herbo, Wale, Pusha T, Gervonte Davis, Congresswoman Ilhan Omar, contributing to the Carter V, and countless others from diverse backgrounds and fields.
Vault has grown tremendously since our inception. We are about to celebrate our 5 year anniversary, and couldn’t be more excited for the future. The path here has been challenging, but we believe the best way to grow is to forge a path forward relying on the strengths of our team. Our team is over 40 strong now with no signs of slowing down, and it is the creativity and PASSION of those individuals that make Vault special.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
So many things! The DMV is very diverse. BRUNCH is a must. The DMV is king of bottomless and rooftop brunch vibes. You really can’t go wrong! There is also so much culture and history to take in. From the Smithsonian museums and the National Museum of African American History, to the many FREE museums and art exhibits around the city. Then of course there’s an amazing music scene. You’ve got to stop by the Vault! If one of our community events or Open Gym production sessions is happening – it’s a great opportunity to meet and network with some incredible people!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
There are so many people who’ve played major roles in our stories! Honestly, too many to count. First and foremost, God and our families! It’s not lost on either of us how blessed we are to come from such supportive communities, and that nothing we do is possible without God. We also have to give a huge shout out to Yudu and Davina Gray! Not only have they given us YEARS of training and guidance, but it was actually a loan from Yudu that really helped us put this new venture into motion. These two truly paved the way for us and laid the foundation for everything Vault has, and will continue to, become. Today, Yudu and Davina are building an amazing community of creatives online called 24/7 Artists. They continue to inspire us as they dedicate themselves to helping artists and entrepreneurs structure, and succeed, in their creative endeavors. We are forever grateful!
