Meet Emily Katter

We had the good fortune of connecting with Emily Katter and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Emily, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
I started Embody Healing with the intention of spreading joy, peace, and love to others. My heart has always been drawn to supporting women—especially creatives and mothers—who, like me, have faced seasons of doubt, overwhelm, or struggle. Through this work, I want to help people uncover the deep healing available within themselves, so they can see that they already hold everything they need to create the life they desire. I believe that when we cultivate healing, peace, and joy within, it naturally radiates outward, touching our families, communities, and the world around us. The more people who feel whole and aligned, the greater the ripple effect of positive change we create together.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I came to this work by following the breadcrumbs. As an artist, I was drawn to self-development and healing to support my creative work. I’ve always been intrigued by the magic of the world around and the innate healing we all have within us, and when I tapped into that part of myself, my art — and my life — opened in ways I never expected.
After many years of practicing yoga, studying Ayurveda and coming home to myself, I had a profound experience in Joshua Tree which led me to my first Reiki training. That training changed everything — the energy, calm, and clarity I felt shifted the course of my life and career. From there, my work with Reiki took flight. I offered sessions, co-hosted Women’s Circles with a dear friend and knew I had found a calling that I couldn’t turn away from.
What started as a personal journey quickly became something I knew I needed to share. I completed my Master training in Reiki, learned other energy healing modalities and indigenous practices, and devoted a year to train in somatic, mindset, and behavioral coaching through ICM, rooted in spiritual psychology. These teachings deepened my practice and became a natural complement to my energy work.
The path hasn’t always been easy — I’ve moved through self-doubt, imposter syndrome, and the steep learning curve of starting a business with no prior experience all while navigating motherhood. But I’ve learned to meet myself with compassion, listen to my body, and trust my intuition to guide the next right step.
At the heart of it all, I know that when I show up in love and service, I do my best work. And I believe we all have this same power within us — to heal, to create, and to live from a place of authenticity and wholeness.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I live in Northeast LA, and there’s so much to explore in these neighborhoods. Start your mornings with movement — yoga at Highland Park Yoga, Kinship Yoga, or One Down Dog, or switch it up with a barre class at Body Dada. For fresh air, hike through Griffith Park, explore the Observatory and take in the sweeping views, or head to Ernest Debs Park for a quieter nature escape. Another favorite is a walk around the Silverlake Reservoir, and for a moment of peace, the Self-Realization Center in Mt. Washington is the perfect spot for solitude and meditation. Food is a must in LA, so grab lunch at Dune in Atwater for Mediterranean flavors or try the incredible tacos at Villa’s Tacos in Highland Park. For brunch, I love Amara Kitchen or Highly Likely Café, and for something more indulgent, a breakfast burrito from Tacos de Corona or Delia’s always hits the spot. Coffee lovers will want to stop by Kumquat Coffee, Kindness & Mischief, or Collage. If you’re into crystals and treasures, Sacred Light in Los Feliz is a magical spot to browse. For a little self-care, book a massage at The Salt Spa in Pasadena, then round out your evenings with dinner at Checker Hall, Little Beast, Skaf’s, or Hippo. From there, you can catch a show at the Lodge Room or enjoy drinks and small plates at Capri Club. And don’t miss the local gems — the South Pasadena and Atwater Farmers Markets are always worth a visit.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I’d love to acknowledge two of my teachers and mentors who have had a profound impact on my journey. Julia Albain and the community she has created, Radical Healers, has offered me a space to learn, grow, and deepen my practices. Julia carries such magic and care in the way she holds space, and I am deeply grateful for her guidance. I’d also like to thank Alyssa Nobriga. Her program, ICM, was truly life-changing—the tools I gained shifted the way I see and hold myself, and they continue to be a cornerstone of the work I share with others today.
