Meet Tanasha Allwood | Creator, Writer, and Executive Producer of Grateful 4 Heels

We had the good fortune of connecting with Tanasha Allwood and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Tanasha, why did you pursue a creative career?
I decided to pursue my artistic passion and create Grateful 4 Heels because art has the power to heal, transform and connect people on the deepest level. My project was born out of my own need and journey of resilience and the realization that so many women carry unspoken stories of struggle, strength, and rebirth. I wanted to create a platform that not only showcases beauty and artistry but also celebrates vulnerability, empowerment and community. My project, Grateful 4 Heels, is a merge of my passion and my purpose. I use my creativity to inspire others to step into their power, embrace their stories, and dance through life with gratitude and courage.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Based in Los Angeles, CA, a diverse group of women, initially strangers and burden by life’s challenges come together and form a sisterhood and experience empowerment and healing through the powerful transformation of a high heels dance class. The thing that sets us apart is the uniqueness of our stories and the way we come together and share and lean into our vulnerable and femineity and dance; thus, forgetting about all of our troubles. This road has by no means been easy, But I am here, still standing and I want the world to know that my brand and my personal story are rooted in resilience, empowerment and gratitude. Grateful 4 Heels, isn’t just about dance, it’s about transformation. It’s about turning pain into power, leaning into vulnerability and turning it into strength, and turning self-expression into healing. My story is living proof that you can rise, reclaim your voice, and create beauty from your struggles. Through my brand, I want people everywhere to feel seen be inspired and reminded that no matter what they have been through, they can step forward with confidence, purpose and grace.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
First things first, we are definitely going to check out a couple of high heels dance classes with my favorite instructors, Taisha Monique Clark aka Mama T and her class Dance Floor Now Ladies, Melissa Westlake and her class Sultry Sundays and my girl Julia and her class over at Body Soul Heels. After that, we’ll have the Santa Monica Pier on the agenda and hang out at the beach perhaps drive up the PCH and stop in at Nobu for lunch. At some point, we’ll go to Rodeo Drive and do some shopping and dining, more than likely end up at Mastros. Depending on if there are any concerts going on or wine or film festivals or a comedy show, we’ll do that. Universal studios will be on the itinerary as well as seeing the Hollywood sign and maybe do a little horseback riding over there by the sign. If it’s state fair season, we’ll do that. We’ll probably visit the Getty Museum or Getty Villa and get some cool pictures and depending on their hiking preference, I would take them to the Culver City Stairs or well do Runyon Canyon so they can see the views. Casa Madera is on of my favorite place to have a cocktail and the food is good. We may go to Seal Beach and do brunch at Spaghettini. LA Bucket list usually has cool stuff so I would see what they had going on if anything. Outside of that bowling would be on the list because I love to bowl and then we’d have to hit up a soul food or Jamaican restaurant like Lucia.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Grateful 4 Heels is so much bigger than me- it’s really about the women whose stories shaped this project. I want to give love and gratitude to every character who helped me bring this vision to life: Judith Calderon, a fierce grandmother who reminds us it’s never too late to reclaim your power; Lisa McLean, a brilliant attorney learning to embrace her body and her joy; Bree Garcia, a mother finding her strength amid a breakup; and Roan Peters, who’s discovering herself after walking away from a toxic relationship. Each of these women inspire me and I’m excited for all of the future women that will soon become a part of the project. The world needs to hear their stories of resilience and beauty and the pieces of their unspoken truths. My hope is that someday soon, audiences around the world will feel that same love, support and empowerment through my project, Grateful 4 Heels.
