We had the good fortune of connecting with Penelope Malfilatre and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Penelope, can you share a quote or affirmation with us?
Oh I have many favorites, but one guide now for me is : “people become interesting when you get interested”
To remind me to always be curious, listen. It s about shifting focus. Forget about what you think, what you hear or see, and focus on the other person, then a more authentic and rewarding interaction is possible, another world is just there. Let s grasp it!
Everybody has something to teach you, something that will enlarge your world!
I love this quote, because it reminds me that what I m living is just a way to look at things. I love this quote because it reminds me that what I’m experiencing is just one way of looking at things. When you dig deeper, you realize that everything comes from your own perspective, so you can choose to play with your perspective and feelings.
Well that s my idea!

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I’ve always been a restless and curious person, interested in everything at once. For years, I thought I had to pick one path, and I struggled because I just couldn’t choose. It’s an incredible feeling to finally realize that my project: “Share the Moment” , is what brings all those experiences together.
I see bridges , connections everywhere, in Spain I designed a workshop mixing dance and hypnosis all of that among horses.
So now wine, food and active meditation. I’m trying at the same time to simplify everything to get to the core of it.
And to remember to have fun!

I’m creating spaces for people to simply be. ( well while sipping good wine isn’t it perfect? )
My goal is to design experiences that are so intense in the moment they leave a lasting trace. I’ve learned that our deepest connections to ourselves and to others happen through our senses—that feeling of being completely and utterly marvelled by something. That’s what moves me, and that’s what I want to share.

The biggest challenge was learning to trust my own gut. It took a long time to accept that my rambling journey was actually my strength. I finally found the simplicity I was looking for.
I believe in my project, I think we all crave for simplicity and new experiences at the same time. So let it be!

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Oh I have to say I LOVE LA! I love that it s so messy, so difficult to grasp. DTLA is definitively the first place. Because it s surprising and multiple. So Of course a visit to the broad, and the last bookstore.
I would take a lot of time at the Hauser and Wirth, at the small library and their gallery, but of course eating at Manuela’s.
And going around to spot the art around.
And finish with a cocktail at the perch. Yes well a lot of up and down. Oh and I would go up the town hall I love to see the city from up there.
Then Silverlake to the neutra house. A good filipino meal at spoon and pork.

Pasadena for some drinks and sushi at sugarfish. Going around to try some of the bars.
A day walk in the Los Angeles mountain, Switzer falls, and a stop at the Huntington garden.
Thursday evening at the south Pasadena Farmer s market.
A Sunday morning at smorgasburg trying things I havent tried yet and going around in all the cool shops around.
Well definitively very East LA tour!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
There is a small group of mum entrepreneurs called Mama Made in Pasadena that is super helpful. Being part of this group is what helped me finally designing the first hypnotic wine tasting I m proposing.
It s also so much more fun and well Lena ( the founder ) is amazing!
