We had the good fortune of connecting with Sahara Lotti and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Sahara, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
In the early 2000s, a friend introduced me to professional lash extensions, and I was instantly hooked. They made me feel confident, beautiful, and unstoppable—but they were also expensive, time-consuming, and inconvenient to maintain. I just wanted to be able to do my own lash extensions. I searched the world for a product that I could buy, but it didn’t exist, so I had to create one!

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
What sets me apart in the beauty space is that I’m both an inventor and founder. Lashify was born out of my own frustration and need—and it exists today because I fought for it every step of the way. It hasn’t been easy, but it’s been incredibly rewarding to see our legal wins set precedent and help other business owners and inventors protect their work. I’ve learned that success requires risk, and you have to be willing to bet on yourself and your vision. Lashify is bigger than lashes—we’re building a beauty think tank, a place where innovation is born and boundaries are redefined. My goal is to reshape the industry into one where original ideas are protected, creators are credited, and women lead the charge in real change.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If I’m being honest, I work so much I don’t have a lot of free time to go out. That’s why I created the Lashify Oasis—it’s the place where I work, live, and play. Honestly, it’s my favorite place to be! I love having guests come over to hang out. We usually order food in from one of my favorite restaurants, like KazuNori.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I have to give a shoutout to my partner, Mike Dong. He’s been by my side from the very beginning and is the reason I was able to take Lashify from an idea and a prototype to a global brand. I remember when I was first talking to Mike online, I didn’t tell him that I was creating the world’s first underlash. He kept telling me that my design wouldn’t work because the base was too thin and delicate. Once I shared that I was creating a DIY lash extension system where you apply the lash underneath the natural lash, he looked at me and said, “We are going to change the world.” That belief and partnership have been everything
