We had the good fortune of connecting with Michelle Lulic and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Michelle, why did you decide to pursue a creative path?
As a kid, I spent a lot of time in my imagination creating different worlds and pretending I had all different kinds of jobs. Being an actor feels like the natural culmination of that.

Despite doing community theatre all through high school, I was never really in the lead roles (since we did musicals and I was not much of a singer), but I thrived in the monologue and scene study classes. So when it came time to go to college, I studied Journalism and Media Studies with a minor at Theatre Arts — with a secret mission of blending the two and pursuing on-camera acting. Acting in film and television was my real dream since watching movies and TV shows with my family was a big part of my upbringing.

After graduating, I dabbled in freelance writing jobs and eventually I transitioned into acting full-time. A lot of actors have said that “this career chooses you, you don’t choose this career,” and I agree wholeheartedly. That’s exactly how I feel about it.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
This Summer, I filmed my first series regular role in a 6-episode limited television series. The show is called ‘Perfect Sundays’ and it follows a dairy farm family as they struggle both financially and emotionally during a hard time in their lives. I played Gwen, the farmer’s wife, and being a part of this project has meant so much to me as it deals with themes that are very close to my heart — including raising awareness for mental health.

I think it’s important for art to be a mirror to an audience so that people feel seen, validated, and heard in their experiences. When I first read the scripts for the series, I knew this project was essential in doing just that for so many people who are struggling.

Excited to share this story with the world in 2026!

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Coffee shops are my favorite places to go. So if you’re visiting New York City, I would definitely suggest cafe hopping through the boroughs. Brooklyn faves are SEY and Partners Coffee. For Manhattan, it’s Stumptown Coffee, Madman Espresso. For Queens, nothing beats Kinship Coffee Roasters in Astoria. I’m always on the lookout for new brews, so this list might change over time, but these are my favorites at the moment!

Other must-do’s is a ride on the NYC Ferry. It’s the cheapest way to see the skyline. Highly recommend going at sunset! I’m also a big fan of going to The Met and The Museum of Moving Image. I love catching a movie at AMC Lincoln Square or (if I’m lucky) I can get into a movie premiere at the Paris Theater.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I’ve had two acting teachers who really shaped me as an actor and made me believe in myself during times when I questioned whether or not I can actually do this. Both of them are no longer with us and I wish I could tell them how much they mean to me. It means a lot for me to have the chance to say it here.

My very first acting teacher: Tony Georgian. He pushed me artistically with the material he entrusted me with ever since my first class at just 12 years old. He later directed me in a play after I graduated college. Giving me that opportunity really pushed me to believe in myself as an actor professionally.

Joseph Melendez was also an incredible acting coach to me. As a television and film actor, he inspired me with his work on-screen and showed me that being a working on-camera actor was possible. He helped me with so many auditions and gave me tools I use to this day.

I don’t know if I would be a working actor if not for having two supportive teachers during different chapters of my journey.
