We had the good fortune of connecting with Tramar Mercadel and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Tramar, what role has risk played in your life or career?
Risk-taking has always been a major part of how I grow, both personally and in my career. I look at risk as an opportunity—something that can either push me forward or teach me a lesson that sharpens me for the next step. I don’t take risks blindly, but I also don’t let fear stop me from moving toward something that could elevate my life.

The biggest progress I’ve made has come from moments where I stepped outside my comfort zone. Whether it was taking on responsibilities I wasn’t fully sure I was ready for, starting something new, or making decisions that required confidence, those risks helped me build resilience, discipline, and a stronger sense of who I am.

In my career, taking risks has opened doors that staying comfortable never would have. It pushed me to learn faster, work harder, and trust myself more. Even when things didn’t go exactly how I planned, I always walked away with more knowledge and a better understanding of how to move forward.

Overall, risk-taking has been essential—it’s allowed me to grow, evolve, and keep moving toward bigger goals.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
My art is rooted in authenticity, culture, and storytelling. What sets me apart is that everything I create comes from a real place — my experiences, my community, and the vision I have for where I’m going. Whether it’s visual art, design, or anything connected to my brand, I focus on emotion and meaning. I want people to feel something when they see my work.

I’m most proud of the fact that I built myself from the ground up. Nothing was handed to me, and because of that, my work carries a level of grit and intention. I’m excited about the direction I’m growing in — expanding my skills, evolving my style, and creating art that represents where I’m from and where I’m headed.

Getting to where I am today professionally wasn’t easy. I had to learn a lot through trial and error, stay disciplined even when progress felt slow, and believe in myself at times when things didn’t look promising. But the challenges shaped me. They taught me patience, consistency, and how to keep creating even when life gets heavy. There were moments I wanted to quit, but I kept reminding myself that my purpose is bigger than any temporary setback.

The biggest lessons I’ve learned along the way are to stay true to my vision, stay hungry, and never compare my journey to anyone else’s. Everyone moves at their own pace. What matters is staying focused, improving every day, and trusting the process.

What I want the world to know about me and my brand is that everything I do has meaning behind it. My story, my art, and my creative direction come from a place of passion and purpose. I want people to see that you can come from anywhere, face whatever obstacles, and still create something powerful. My brand is bigger than fashion or art — it’s about inspiration, identity, and showing what’s possible when you bet on yourself.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I would take them to a cultural area which is Jamaica let’s conquer and see some things in life we never seen let’s explore the areas of life people are afraid to explore.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My mother shares a big part in my story for never giving up on me always rooting for me so I want to give a shout out to my mother she’s a big push.
