We had the good fortune of connecting with Brynlee Menu and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Brynlee, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking.
At 14, I made the huge decision to leave my small hometown in B.C., Canada and move to Southern California to pursue a dance and performing career. I’ve always believed that risks are really just opportunities in disguise. Even if I fail, I learn, grow, and redirect myself closer to my goals. This mindset is what pushed me to take the leap—and what continues to guide me forward.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
What sets me apart is my never-ending pursuit of my dreams. Despite the recent strict immigration crackdown, my family and I persevered and found a way for me to remain in the United States for longer than six months at a time so I could receive the training I need for a successful career. Through extensive research, a trusted lawyer, and unwavering determination, we secured an E-2 visa. I am currently signed with a top agency in Canada and am now working toward obtaining an O-1 visa, which will allow me to work professionally as an artist in the U.S. The journey has not been easy, but it proves that with persistence, it can be done.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If a friend came to town, I’d take them to all the top dance spots in the LA area—Millennium, Movement Lifestyle, Playground LA, Offstage, and The Space Brea. After a full day of dancing, we’d grab a recovery smoothie at Erewhon.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
At a very young age, I spent most of my time playing with three boys in my small town in B.C., Canada, never realizing that dance could be a real career. I later discovered that their mom—Sarah Christine Smith (now Podollan)—was a highly accomplished dancer, actor, and performer in LA for many years. She planted the seed that a professional path was possible and eventually became my biggest cheerleader, mentor, and coach, guiding me as I pursued a career in dance.
And Now, I’m forever grateful to be part of the Launch program at The Space in Brea, where I’m continuing to grow my education and training in commercial dance and performance.
