We had the good fortune of connecting with Deborah Reynolds and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Deborah, can you talk to us a bit about the social impact of your business?
I grew up in extreme poverty. A woman I looked up to once told me..hunny you have poverty mentality…she was right, I decided that day I would shed what I thought my destiny was and create my own. Once I received my esthetician license I went to work for a fancy corporate spa, that’s where I learned about luxury as well as business. I climbed the corporate ladder for about a decade before taking a leap of faith by opening my own studio. My studio was dedicated to offering high end luxury services that were affordable enough for all to enjoy. That studio became a community outreach. I began to offer no cost services through learning about some of the clients needs and the needs of their friends and families. Some of my most meaningful moments there were ones where I was donating my time, my touch. I called it “small touch” and informed my clientele they could add “small touch” to their appointment notes and I would know. Today I’ve gone on to run a sugar manufacturing company as my daughter has took the rains at our spa sharing that same love that creates the same impact I wanted when I opened it. The manufacturing company has the same beating heart, one of a servant. Together with my amazing partner we try and help any way we can. We use our products to help young and old entrepreneurs through gifts and no cost education. We hope our story helps inspire others to give back to their communities.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I feel deeply in love with sugaring hair removal due to how natural and kind to the environment it is. The result were mind blowing to me, I knew I had to create my own luxury sugarpaste. The quest began and approximately two in a half years later SMP (Sugarmamapro) was born. I started cooking one jar at a time. Today SMP supports solo estheticians all over the country and a few outside of the states. One thing I’m extremely proud of is our organic story of grown, I love to say built not bought.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I love taking my guests to downtown LA to hit the flower mart..then head over to Ktown for some yummy food and a Korea spa!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I’m extremely thankful for Glen Ivy and Hilton for their dedication to excellence. It was my first exposure to fancy places.
