We had the good fortune of connecting with Natalie Gonzalez and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Natalie, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
My thought process behind starting my own business honestly came from knowing I was meant for more. I’ve always been very intentional about the spaces I’m in, and I knew I wanted to create a salon that actually reflected my values. Integrity, beauty, growth, and empowerment.

I wanted to build something elevated. A space that felt inspiring. A place where women walk in and feel confident, and where stylists feel supported instead of limited.

Being a single mom played a huge role too. I wanted flexibility, stability, and something that my son could look at and say, “My mom built that”
I wanted to show him that you don’t have to settle…you can create your own opportunities if you’re willing to bet on yourself.

I’m also deeply passionate about what I do. Doing hair has never felt like “just work” for me. So opening a business around something I genuinely love made it feel possible.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
As an artist, I see hair as transformation. I specialize in lived-in color, dimensional blondes and brunettes, and extensions that enhance natural beauty in an elevated, effortless way. What sets me apart is that I focus just as much on how my clients feel as how they look. Confidence is always the goal.

Building my career wasn’t easy. I opened my salon as a single mom, navigating risk, long hours, and uncertainty. But I’m deeply passionate about what I do, so it never felt like just work. It felt like purpose. I stayed consistent, invested in growth, and trusted my vision.

Haus of Luna represents creativity, integrity, and empowerment. I want people to know my brand is built on passion, resilience, and the belief that when you truly love what you do, building something of your own is possible.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If my best friend was visiting, I’d definitely keep it local. I grew up in Hermosa Beach, so Pier Ave. has a special place in my heart. I love spots like Atta Girl, Palmilla, and Fox & Farrow. They’re all great energy, great food, and perfect for catching up over drinks.

I’m big on supporting local businesses, so I’m always excited to try new restaurants and see the community grow. Between beach walks, sunset views on the Strand, and grabbing dinner on Pier Ave, it’s the perfect mix of relaxed but fun. That’s what I love most about living and working here.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I want to dedicate my shoutout to Anela Redzic. She has been such a grounding and inspiring presence in my journey. Not just professionally, but personally. Building a business can feel lonely at times, and having someone who genuinely supports you, celebrates your wins, and holds space during the hard moments is everything.

Anela has been that steady energy for me. She believes in growth, alignment, and doing things with integrity, which mirrors so much of what I stand for. Having her alongside me in this chapter has reminded me that success isn’t just about accomplishments. It’s about community, loyalty, and surrounding yourself with people who want to see you rise.

I truly wouldn’t be where I am today without the support, encouragement, and friendship she’s given me.
