Meet Talbot Kuper | Business Owner & Barber/Cosmetologist

We had the good fortune of connecting with Talbot Kuper and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Talbot, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
At this point in my life I choose the artistic and creative aspect to my career because it keeps a harmony in my life. When I’m working with my guests and being creative, heavier aspects of the world remain my periphery. Great conversations can take place in unison with my work and relationships with guests strengthen as a result.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I love building relationships with every one of my guests and getting to know exactly what they’re looking for while getting to know them as people. Maintaining a respect for every guest’s goal while keeping a healthy influence of my expertise with every service sets me apart no matter what the style. It is always so exciting to see a person happy when they leave and to hear of the positive feedback they’ve received about their hair. This is the foundation of my business.
Building this business wasn’t easy. I began working for other shops with different approaches along the way. My vision wasn’t always understood when shared but when I stuck to it the success always unfolded and continued. I do my best to learn and improve through each difficult moment. Staying pliable and willing to learn constantly is my key to overcome any challenge. People are very receptive and each satisfied guest is a stride forward. I am always grateful for them and the support they return to me with every referral. My guests are the pulse of my business.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
When my friends visit I love to take them to any of the scenic areas around LA by day. Especially hiking in Palos Verdes. By night music venues like Venice West always have bigger bands in an intimate environment. One of the many perks of the area. We’re very fortunate to have awesome Mexican food here etc. Mi Burrito in Redondo would be a stop. Hang out at the beach and see a comedy show at the Comedy and Magic Club.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Bryce Tony & Andrew Gawdun. Without these two my shop would not exist in its form today. I am so grateful for both of them.
