We had the good fortune of connecting with Tiffany Chi and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Tiffany, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
My photographic style is influenced by my Fine Art education and many years of painting and observing light, people, and relationships. My images are soft, natural, light and airy, with a tinge of ethereal romance. I believe in a custom photography experience that is intentional and meaningful, rather than rushed and generic.

Because we now live in a digital world, we leave more and more of our most cherished photographic memories just sitting on a dusty old hard drive, on an ancient social media post, or worse — completely forgotten altogether. For the busy mother who desires quality heirlooms of her most precious moments, I provide a personalized and bespoke service from session planning and preparation to a physical piece of artwork you can hold in your hands or hang in your home.

I have found that the Fine Art Portraiture services that I offer are typically rare within my industry and generally only available to clients interested in Wedding Photography. As a mother myself, I know how quickly these years pass us by and wanted to provide an option for families looking to invest in Heirloom Quality for their children and for their families.

It is my passion to see photographs printed as beautiful artwork. For this reason, I have chosen to partner with Archival Quality Printers and labs who specialize in Museum-Quality printing & framing. They print on archival papers that will last and are made of the finest materials.

When you invest in Heirloom Artwork, you are investing in high quality custom art that will look beautiful in your home and for your family for years to come.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
My name is Tiffany Chi, and I am the owner and lead photographer of Tiffany Chi Photography — a fine art portrait studio based in Brea, California and specializing in natural light maternity, birth, newborn, baby, and family photography.

I originally trained as a French pastry chef in Paris, where I met my husband, Alex — who also happens to assist me on many Sessions.

I hold a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from UCLA, where I developed a deep understanding of visual storytelling, composition, and the emotional resonance of light. Years of painting and studying the nuances of human connection have profoundly shaped how I photograph my clients today.

After becoming a mother myself to two beautiful children — and adopting our spirited husky pup, Frodo Barkins — I felt a deeper urgency to document the fleeting, sacred seasons of early parenthood. That calling became the heartbeat of Tiffany Chi Photography.

What sets my work apart is my approach: personalized, relational, and deeply intentional. I strive to create fine art portraiture that captures not just what a moment looks like, but what it feels like. My imagery is soft, natural, light and airy, often touched with an ethereal, romantic quality. Whether I’m photographing a glowing maternity session, the raw emotion of labor and delivery, or the delicate details of a newborn, my goal is always to highlight authentic connection and love.

I offer custom portrait sessions in my natural light studio in Brea, as well as in-home or on-location across Orange County, Los Angeles, and Southern California, and I am also available for travel.

At the heart of everything I do is a commitment to creating timeless, heirloom-quality artwork — whether through framed wall pieces, fine art albums, or matted print boxes — that families will treasure for generations to come.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I would plan the kind of visit that feels warm, meaningful, and beautiful — full of light-filled spaces, slow moments, and quiet places where we could pause and connect. As a photographer and an introvert, I’m drawn to spaces that are not only scenic but also peaceful — places that let you breathe deeply, sip slowly, and have the kind of conversations that linger long after they’re over.

I also was once a French pastry chef, so naturally, I’m always seeking out the little joys in life: a perfect croissant, a delicate tea service, or a cozy café with charm and character.

A few of my favorite scenic places for a quiet stroll in Orange County:
Lido Marina Village, Newport Beach
Balboa Island, Newport Beach
Crystal Cove State Park
Corona del Mar Beach
Old Town Tustin
Downtown Fullerton (Next door to my Natural Light Portrait Studio!)

Favorite Cafés:
Morning Lavender Café, Tustin
Eller Bakery, Costa Mesa
Rye Goods, Laguna Beach
République, Los Angeles

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I owe a heart full of gratitude to each and every family who has believed in my abilities and placed their trust in me to capture their most intimate and precious moments. I’m equally thankful for my own family, whose unwavering support and quiet sacrifices—through evenings and weekends shared with this calling—have made this work possible.
