Meet Ayad Mirjan | Founder & CEO, OrangeBag® | Commercial Laundry & Linen Service in Los Angeles

We had the good fortune of connecting with Ayad Mirjan and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Ayad, is your business focused on helping the community? If so, how?
About a year ago, a small spa owner in LA called me, panicked. She had signed a five-year contract with a national laundry provider for her linens and towels, and the only way out was to pay every remaining week of the contract, even if she stopped using the service. For a small business, that is the kind of decision that haunts you. It is also the reason OrangeBag exists in the form it does today.
OrangeBag is the only Green Business-Certified laundry delivery service in Los Angeles. That certification is not a marketing badge. We had to upgrade our machines, switch to toxin-free detergents, prove our water and energy savings, and document how we handle waste. Our equipment uses up to 30% less water and energy, and our reusable laundry bags replace thousands of single-use plastics every year. In a city that takes its water seriously, that matters.
The bigger impact, though, is on small businesses. Walk into almost any independent gym, yoga studio, salon, spa, or boutique hotel in LA and you will find an owner stuck in a multi-year linen agreement they cannot leave. We built OrangeBag as the alternative: shorter contracts (2 years or less), linens sourced for the actual business rather than pulled from a generic catalog, and reliable pickup and delivery from a real LA facility. My view on this is simple: no small business should be locked into a five-year laundry deal. I personally review LA owners’ contracts for free if they ask.
We handle commercial laundry for the LA Rams, the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures, and the USA Olympic Committee. We also support beauty industry brands like Sephora Studios, women’s health brands like Tia, and local coffee roasters like The Boy and The Bear. Across LA and into Orange County, that translates into hotel laundry service, spa towel service, gym towel service, salon laundry, medical and dental linen, short-term rental and Airbnb laundry, and wash and fold for the residential customers we still serve from our original line.
Our facility in Los Angeles employs full-time drivers and laundry professionals, providing the consistency that keeps linen quality steady for the businesses that trust us.
Done right, the impact is layered. Less waste. Cleaner chemistry. More leverage for small business owners. Stable jobs in our community. This is the version of commercial laundry I am building in LA.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
OrangeBag is a commercial laundry and linen service in Los Angeles. We do pickup and delivery for hotels, gyms, yoga studios, spas, salons, medical and dental offices, short-term rentals, and Airbnb hosts across the LA metro and into Orange County. We also still serve residential customers from our original wash-and-fold delivery line.
Everything is processed at our own facility in Los Angeles, by full-time staff, using toxin-free detergent and high-efficiency machines.
Three things actually make us different:
First, we are the only Green Business-Certified laundry delivery service in Los Angeles. That certification required us to upgrade machines, prove water and energy savings, switch to non-toxic chemicals, and document waste management. In a crowded LA laundry market where every competitor calls themselves eco-friendly, we are the only one who can show the audit.
Second, we do not use 3-5 year contracts; ours are 2 years or less. The legacy commercial linen industry runs on three- to five-year agreements that small businesses cannot get out of without paying the rest of the term. We endeavor to replace that model by utilizing flexible agreements. If we are not earning the relationship every week, the customer should be able to leave.
Third, we source linens for the actual business, not from a generic catalog. A boutique hotel in Hollywood, a med spa in Beverly Hills, and a CrossFit box in El Segundo do not need the same towel. Our made-for-you sourcing model is a meaningful operational difference, and it is the reason brands like the LA Rams, the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures, the USA Olympic Committee, Sephora Studios, Tia, and The Boy and The Bear stay with us.
Getting here was not easy, but the hard part was probably not what you would expect. The biggest test for OrangeBag was not starting the company: instead, it was the pivot from residential pickup-and-delivery to commercial linen service for hotels, gyms, spas, and medical practices. Two completely different businesses inside the same brand. Commercial buyers move slower, ask detailed questions, and have different concerns than residential customers: chain of custody, COIs, replacement policies, weekend coverage, and sanitization protocols. We rebuilt operations, hired strategically, and retrained the team. We are beyond grateful for the companies that have stayed with us through our transition.
The lessons that stuck:
One, run your own facility. Outsourcing the actual washing means outsourcing your quality, your turnaround, and your reputation. We doubled down on owning production, and that is what made commercial possible.
Two, a certification is only worth what it forces you to actually do. Becoming Green-Certified made our chemistry safer, our water bills lower, and our machines last longer.
Three, the contract is the product, not just the laundry. Small business owners in LA are tired of being trapped. The thing they buy from us, more than clean towels, is the freedom to leave.
What I want the world to know about OrangeBag is simple. We are built for LA business owners who want premium commercial laundry and linen service, on their terms, from a team that picks up the phone and shows up the same way every week. If you are running a hotel, gym, spa, salon, or medical practice in Los Angeles or Orange County and your current laundry partner is slowing you down, we are the alternative.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If a friend was visiting LA, I would build the trip around some of my favorite places in the city. They also happen to be some of the businesses we work with at OrangeBag.
Grab coffee at The Boy and The Bear in Redondo Beach. One of the best espresso programs in LA.
Spend a day at the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures on Wilshire. The exhibits are genuinely excellent, even for someone who is not a film person.
Catch a Rams game at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood. OrangeBag is the Rams’ laundry partner, so I am biased, but the stadium is one of the best venues in the country.
Two more clients worth a shoutout that don’t fit a tourist itinerary: the USA Olympic Committee, and Tia, the women’s health brand with clinics across LA. Not places to schedule into a vacation week, but part of why I am proud of this city. A lot of LA’s hospitality, healthcare, and culture infrastructure runs through a few small commercial laundry partners behind the scenes, and we are glad to be one of them.
This is the LA I would show off: less Hollywood Boulevard, more of the city we are proud to take care of.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would like to dedicate this Shoutout to the three communities that have shaped how I run OrangeBag.
The first is the Entrepreneurs’ Organization Accelerator (EOA). Joining EOA gave me the structured peer feedback I did not even know I was missing. There are no real shortcuts in building a service business, but having a room of operators who have already solved your next problem comes pretty close. The frameworks, accountability, and friendships I built through EOA show up in nearly every important decision we make at OrangeBag.
The second is the Coin Laundry Association (CLA) and the broader laundromat and pickup-and-delivery community, including Dave and Carla Menz of Laundromat Millionaire, Joe Dan and Kelli Reed of Splash Em Out, the operators I met at the CLA WDF Workshop in Nashville, the team at Foltex USA, and the many independent owners I have learned from on stage and over coffee. This is one of the most generous industries I have worked in; people share real numbers, real failures, and real playbooks. OrangeBag would not be the only Green-Certified laundry delivery service in Los Angeles without the commitment to the standard that community taught me.
The third is the OrangeBag team in Los Angeles. None of the commercial laundry, pickups, or the deliveries happen without the drivers and laundry professionals who show up every day to actually do it. They are the reason this is tangible.
