We had the good fortune of connecting with Meg McCarter and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Meg, what role has risk played in your life or career?
I mean, if you aren’t willing to take risks, you can’t move forward. Everything I have done in life involved risk.
You never know until you try but if you don’t try you won’t grow.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I’ve been a professional floral designer since 2008. I put a lot of heart and hard work into what I do. I love it and I can’t imagine doing anything else. You have to love it because it is hard work. Mostly labor, lots of admin, lots of recipes, so many super early mornings and no free weekends, but the looks on my clients’ faces it what makes it all worth it. I feel so honored to be a part of what is one of the most important days of their lives.
My business growth was very organic. It started with one event, then 4 then 5, then 20, then 40 and it just continued to grow and grow. There was no “business plan” Just a lot of hard work and love and appreciation for the craft.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I absolutely LOVE living in LA. it truly is the best.
I mean, there is so much incredible food here. I would have to dinner stop at Girl and the Goat, Manuelas, Pastries at Proof in Atwater, Portos is always a must. I love the sandwiches at Beverly Hills Cheese Store, Colombo’s for some good old school Italian. I love a good tiki bar and there are so many good ones here; so would have to hit up The Tonga Hut, Lucky Tiki, Broken Compass. The observatory is a must, the farmers market. Little Tokyo for a fun day out. I miss Clifton’s that was one of my favorites….

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My SO Randy. He allows me the space to be creative and he is beyond understanding of the time I need to invest in my business and creativity. I wouldn’t be able to do it without him.
