Meet Adriana Cascarano | Founder of The Electric Voyage | Luxury Electric Boat Experiences

We had the good fortune of connecting with Adriana Cascarano and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Adriana, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
My thought process really came from frustration. I used to sail, and every time I wanted to go out, it felt like an ordeal — I was working the whole time while everyone else was relaxing. And I just remember thinking… this shouldn’t be this hard.
That’s when I got my first Duffy. It completely changed the experience — no gas, no wind dependency, just something easy that allowed me to actually enjoy the moment with my guests.
At the time, there was essentially a monopoly in Marina del Rey, and the experience just wasn’t great. The boats felt sterile, customer service was lacking, and people didn’t feel taken care of. So I saw an opportunity to create something completely different.
For me, it wasn’t just about renting boats; it was about creating an experience. Every boat has its own personality, everything is clean, thoughtful, and intentional, and we really take the time to make sure people feel comfortable and confident before they leave the dock.
I really believe people don’t just want a boat; they want a moment they’ll actually remember.

What should our readers know about your business?
I’m really proud that we’ve never had a single incident. That comes from the time we spend making sure every guest feels comfortable and confident before they leave the dock.
It definitely wasn’t easy getting here. There was a lot of resistance early on trying to enter the space, and we had to navigate some real challenges. But we stayed focused, worked through it, and ultimately created something that people genuinely love.
One of the biggest lessons I’ve learned is that trust creates better behavior than restrictions. That’s why we focus on giving people a great experience and allowing them to rise to that.
At the end of the day, it’s all about what I call the F’s. Fun, family, friends, and freedom. That’s what people take with them when they leave on one of our boats.
And, so, we keep looking ahead. We’ll be adding different types of boats and curated marina experiences, while keeping that same focus on experience first.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I’d curate a week that blends elevated city energy with the best of LA’s coastline for my visitors. We’d start in West Hollywood or Beverly Hills with great dinners and a night out, then ease into the beach lifestyle with Manhattan Beach for that clean, upscale coastal feel and Santa Monica for sunset cocktails. I’d include a day in Palos Verdes for the hiking, cliffs and ocean views, and a night in Silver Lake or Echo Park paired with a show at The Echo or the Greek Theatre for something iconic. Throughout the week it would be a mix of incredible sushi, oceanfront dining, and places that feel elevated but still very LA.
One full day would be dedicated to Marina del Rey. It’s the largest man-made marina in North America, second only to Dubai, and it’s completely underrated. The wildlife alone is incredible, with dozens of seabird species and sea lions throughout the harbor. The best way to experience it is on the water. Cruising through the marina with your own food, drinks, and your favorite people feels private, relaxed, and completely different from the rest of the city. It’s peaceful, it’s beautiful, and it’s one of those experiences people remember long after they leave.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I definitely wouldn’t be here without my partner, Tobin Janke. He supported a lot of the mechanical in the early stages, and I don’t think I would have been able to launch without his support.
I’d also give a lot of credit to the U.S. Coast Guard. There were some major challenges entering the space, and they played an important role in helping create a safer, more professional environment on the water. That support made a big difference.
The Electric Voyage is really built around experience first. We’re one of only two legal Duffy rental companies in Marina del Rey, but what sets us apart is that we’ve intentionally kept a small business feel. People can text us, reach us directly, and we go out of our way to make sure they feel like a friend or neighbor, not like another tourist trap. We want people to trust us, come back, and remember the experience.
