We had the good fortune of connecting with Joshua Greenbaum and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Joshua, have you ever found yourself in a spot where you had to decide whether to give up or keep going? How did you make the choice?
I think it’s a really fine line and depends on every individual person. I’m a Visual Artist in New Jersey and there’s thousands of us here. I’ve been told enough times to give up or pursue something that may lead to a more secure life. The truth is there’s no such thing as a secure life. Life is fluid, and you never know where you’ll be tomorrow, never mind ten, five, or even one year from now. I’ve been at it for some time now and I’ve been fueled by the need to complete every task and move on to the next. Always keep going. If you really have the will to do something, it will be done, or it won’t be. If it’s not to be, it’s not to be. Giving up is never truly giving up if you start something new and succeed.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Currently I’m working as a muralist and my current project is at Saint Peter’s University, where I’m creating a mural in the Center of Child and Human Development. This is a classroom where young students work and learn together with University education majors. I love creating art that resonates with people and hearing how my art makes them feel. The love and praise from my supporters is what truly keeps me going. Besides murals I love comic design and illustration, abstract art, mixed media, and especially bringing new things to the table. If I’m going to show art to the public I just hope I’m making something worth seeing.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Grab some amazing food from any of the fantastic delis in the area, and head to Liberty State Park for a relaxing day on green grass overlooking the Statue of Liberty.
