We had the good fortune of connecting with Anton David Jeftha and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Anton David, how do you think about risk?
As an Actor, for me its all about taking risks. I had initially studied and completed a degree in Finance, and decided to drop out of my post graduate finance degree to pursue Acting. That was the very first massive risk, as they say its hardest to start..and since then its been a series of risks which have led me to where I am today. However, it is one thing to say Im just going to roll the dice, and another thing to put the work in to make sure the risk pays off. Since becoming an Actor 10 odd years ago, its been a rollercoaster ride of up’s and down’s and throughout Ive had no plan B and the tenacity to stick to the game, assess the amount of effort neccessary to succeed and to keep showing up. I took a major risk 5 years ago, moved to LA barely knowing anyone there and pursued my career out there, now I am fortunate enough to have a presence in both the US and my home country South Africa. So yes, it started with a risk and then became my responsibility to learn more about the risk I took and what was neccesary to ensure the reward someday would outweigh the risk..
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I am an Actor, South african born. I live between Johannesburg, Cape town and Los angeles at the moment. I am currently starring as a principle character in a show called Legacy. This is flighting in most countries through out Africa and is getting an incredible response. I am hoping the show becomes available to other countries too in the not too distant future. Nothing worth having comes easy, its been a relentless hustle and I remain on this hustle, I am not sure it ever ends. I have come to terms with this, and remain optimistic and excited for it is an industry whereby your entire life could change overnight after a lot of foundation laying ofcourse ( or not)… Lots of lessons learnt, And still so many im sure to learn as i go, however grateful for each obstacle I have had to overcome to date.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
SO many fun things to do in South Africa. I would for sure take them to my home town : Cape town. Show them around to all the beautful beaches, winelands, fun hang out spots..This city is addictive and I can tell you they would not want to leave 😉
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
