We had the good fortune of connecting with Angela Lee and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Angela, what do you think makes you most happy? Why?
The greatest happiness to me comes when I’m doing what I love to do, which is calligraphy. During this moment, my mind is in a place of peace and tranquil. I started doing calligraphy just because I love it so much. I remember very clearly from the beginning. There was no easy path, but to practice a lot. Even through many countless days of practice, I never felt unhappy of the slow progress. I was more excited to try again and again. I’m so glad I never gave up because today I’m the happiest doing calligraphy for a living. I get to wake up everyday and do what I love to do.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Based in Los Angeles, I offer calligraphy and lettering services for wedding and events. I incorporate modern, chic, and elegant letterings for envelope addressing, escort cards, signage, and more. I started calligraphy with passion and hard work. It brings me so much joy to work with clients for their special day and seeing their face light up. That is really the highlight of my day. I learned that being organized, prepared, and working hard are very important. And being on time with a great smile is a must! I’m excited for the new things to come so stay tuned!
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
My hangout place is Old Town Pasadena, California. There are many fun things to do here. There is a famous museum called Norton Simon Museum. For lunch, I would go to Russell’s for their amazing burgers. After that, there are great dessert places like Vanilla Bakery or some boba. We can go to a movie theatre. And for dinner, there is a delicious Argentinean Restaurant. Oh and Urth Cafe! And plenty of shopping and nail shops.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would like to take this moment to thank my husband who has been so supportive, encouraging, and being there for me through hard times. I couldn’t have done it without him.
