We had the good fortune of connecting with Aida Yodites and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Aida, what is the most important factor behind your success?
I think what has made Delicate Seams successful is that it’s a brand which was created out of pure necessity. My young daughter (10 at the time) approached me with a sincere plea to replace her existing undergarments with better ones. That was the catalyst that sent me on a creative journey where I learned immediately that there was a huge gap in the market. There were very few undergarment options for growing girls who’s bodies were changing and tastes were maturing. There was no “in between”. Delicate Seams truly bridges the gap I recognized in the market. Our brand introduces mature, yet appropriate styled undergarments to girls that are growing into young ladies. I’m thrilled every time a parent thanks me for creating my brand for their daughter. It’s truly humbling to know that my loyal customers really “get” why I created Delicate Seams.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Well, I think most people would be shocked to learn that I didn’t have one ounce of design or apparel manufacturing experience when I started Delicate Seams. I actually have a degree in business administration, and I’ve spent the past 20+ years of my professional career in the life science/biotechnology industry – how’s that for a curveball? My formative years were spent working for The Walt Disney Company, where I was surrounded by some of the most talented creatives in the world. I’m incredibly proud to say that over my career span, I’ve met some of the neatest people on this planet – from writers to artist and designers to scientists and PhDs. It’s probably not surprising to know that I turned to my network of friends and colleagues when I was ready to launch Delicate Seams. The biggest lesson I’ve learned along the way is to always treat everyone (no matter what credentials or talent they possess or NOT) with the utmost respect and kindness. It is the relationships that I’ve genuinely fostered over my career that I’m the most proud of. I love people, and I want the world to know that Delicate Seams is a brand that was created by a mom with a lot of really genuine friends.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I’m lucky to say that I live in beautiful Southern California. That being said, I would show my dearest friend some of the hidden charm my town has to offer. I would pack a picnic basket and we would spend a sunny day out on one of the amazing local wineries, sharing a bottle of the best bold wine Temecula has to offer. Then, there’s always a day of pampering at one of our fabulous day spas. Who doesn’t like a full-body massage, facial and steam bath? Then, we would have a delicious dinner at one of my favorite local restaurants called “Goat & Vine”, which has the best fresh, local, farm-to-table cuisine. The wonderful thing about where I live, is that I’m about an hour from everywhere in Southern California. So, if it’s summer, we’re heading to Carlsbad beach for the day or a San Diego museum, and if it’s winter, we’re heading to Big Bear Mountain for some skiing! I love where I live and I’m excited to share with anyone who wants to visit.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Oh gosh! There are so many people that stepped up to help me bring Delicate Seams to fruition. I am grateful to say that I have a beautiful network of talented individuals from my past and present who I enlisted for help – Not one of them said “NO” to me when I asked for their assistance. It’s impossible to name all of them, but I’m going to use this opportunity to send a special “shout out” to my Art Director, Mr. Allan Bean of “Spin Dezyn”. Allan has been with me from day one and every step of the way. Most people have no clue how much an Art Director does to help build a brand. Just to give some examples, Allan has created everything from my logo, to my garment hang-tags, wash-and-wear imprints, ads, collateral, website imagery, and the list goes on and on … What stands out to me is what Allan told me one day in a phone conversation. He said “Aida, I want you to know that I believe in your brand, and no matter what happens I’m here to help you ’til the very end, and I’m not going anywhere.” That is the definition of love, support and encouragement all rolled up into one. I am beyond thankful for Allan Bean.
