We had the good fortune of connecting with Tanika Allen and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Tanika, every day, we about how much execution matters, but we think ideas matter as well. How did you come up with the idea for your business?
Due to so many extremely talented unknown artist or better known as indie artist were not getting the shine on them I believed they deserved.

What should our readers know about your business?
Twixx Mixx Productions is a company designed to assist the independent community with Artist Development and Promotional Opportunites. Even the most successful businesses still come up against adversity so it’s hard for me to complain, I see it has the opportunity to learn new lessons. Working in the entertainment industry is a humbling experience because of how quickly it changes in regard to what the fans want, what the world is going through at any given time or even the rapid fluctuations in how social media influences the audience on a global scale. I am grateful to have had over 20 years of experience in customer service prior to the inception of Twixx Mixx Productions as first an Activity Director and later becoming a Social Worker in the convelescent setting. Each stage of my life has given me the tools I find myself using more and more has my company grows especially the ablity of being honest and transparent. Helping others is what I have done since the age of five years old. It comes naturally to me and has proven to give me an effortless feeling when I see artist grow into phenomenal entertainers expanding their wings as far as the eye can see. It is a joy and a honor to be a part of such greatness.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Prior to the pandemic, hands down my favorite place to go was The Study Hollywood. An amazing trio including an entertainment manager, an A&R/Promoter/Model and gammy award winning music producer from 1500 or Nothin created the most amazing night called UnplugdLA! Every Tuesday night, you knew where I was going to be. With the host Blaq Thompsonintroduced a flurry of tramendous talent that graced the stage each week feeling the venue to capacity. We would go eat a NOBU, can you say incredible menu! We let the waiter pick our meal and would make plans to go back before we left the table. It’s mandatory to visit Venus Beach when spending a week in L.A. any and everything you want you will find there, sometimes things you didn’t know you wanted too. I can’t let Roscoe’s Chicken and Waffles go without mention. a must as well and with so many places to shop, we would visit Fox Hills now known as Westfield Culver City and the famous Beverly Center in either it’s a high probablity that you will run into multiple known faces while picking up the latest styles fashion has to offer. While on a shopping binge the Saluson Swapmeet can not be left of the list and it’s a must to go by The Marathon Store and pay respect to the late great Nipsy Hustle.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Without artist Money Moore and seeing how difficult it was for and independent talent like himself, I would have not jumped into this business feet first doing all that I could to make sure he had a stage to perform on, a podcast to be interviewed, moral support and somenone he knew believed in his gift of storytelling through music and poetry. It was Money Moore who introduced me to my now business partner DJ Booyah. These two incredible men have been a force behind me during times of uncertainty. I would be remissed if I didn’t mentioned El Fuser and Brother Malik Salaam whom gave me my first opportunity as the Excutive Producer of Re-Evolutionary Radio, they created an incredible group of artist, community activist and entrepreneurs that utlized art to educate the masses. It’s amazing when you think about the one’s who encourage you. The people who see the greatness you possess even if you don’t. It was Big Gino, R.I.P. who put me in front of the camera as one of his co-host on the Music Showcase, a Podcast recorded at Morris Media Studios in Los Angeles, CA. I have always said, “I work better behind the scenes”, but he seen different for me and there I was facing my fears and overcoming them. During the majority of these transitions little did I know Bilal Rasheed, CEO of TJD Media Group had been observing my progress and work ethic and has now teamed up with my company to create my very own podcast, In The Mixx with Twixx. The universe is always at work, moving things around to give us the opportunities we ask for. I have learned to stop concentrating on the prayers and start paying attention to the doors that are opening up because the opportunity will be missed unapologeticlly. There are so many people that have had a hand in helping me to where I am today like Deno Brown Entertainer, Double G, My Manchester Manor Family the Indie Artists that believed in my vision for their careers and more and I am grateful to them all. I would love to include each of them individually but I would like to say to them, Thank You for supporting me! If not for their incredible gift of artistry and injenuity there would be no need for Twixx Mixx Productions. To my family and friends, your love has held me down and kept me pushing forward.
