We had the good fortune of connecting with Ashton Saldana and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Ashton, is your business focused on helping the community? If so, how?
I believe through my writing and workshops, and now being a Reiki healing practitioner, I’ve not only been someone for the community to identify with, but have provided them the tools to feel worthy, loved, and powerful. My mission statement has always been to teach people how to use their past experiences to promote growth, instead of allowing them to be debilitating. It has been a beautiful thing to witness how I have inspired some women to take ownership of their life and make choices with their best interest in mind. I may not have a global presence but I like to think I have indirectly impacted others through six degrees of separation. Like Mother Teresa said, “I alone cannot change the world, but I can cast a stone across the waters to create many ripples”.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
From day one, I have always told my story from a raw and unfiltered place. I would say people enjoy reading my blog, participating in my events, or following me on social media because the woman of today can truly identify with my story and struggles. I recently got certified to be a reiki practitioner and am offering complimentary sessions to family, friends, and followers to help promote additional emotional and physical healing. For those that are unfamiliar or want to sign up for a session, all the details are on my website.
Any great local spots you’d like to shoutout?
This question seems so much harder to answer now that we have been in lockdown for the past 2+ months but let’s just say this is pre-quarantine…Los Angeles may be known for certain tourist attractions but I would stray as far away as possible and show my guest the local gems of this city. I would most definitely take my friend to Terrenea Resort in Rancho Palos Verdes- this resort is awesome for a staycation or even a great spot to grab lunch while perched on top of coastal bluffs with panoramic views of the pacific ocean. I would wine & dine them at my hands down favorite steakhouse, Chianina located in Belmont Shores (Long Beach). Southern CA has so many vibrant outdoor malls such as Pacific City in Huntington Beach, Century City Mall in Los Angeles, or 2nd&PCH in Long Beach. These establishments have trendy boutiques, chic restaurants, and specialty shops. It’s easy to spend many hours eating, shopping, and enjoying the SOCAL sunshine. Depending on the time of year, there are always public events like rooftop parties, movies on the beach, or organized bicycle rides through CicLAvia which I would love them to be able to experience LA like a local. Lastly, I would take them to one of my beloved spiritual spots such as Go Inward, Mystic Journey Bookstore, or White Light Sounds to experience Reiki Healing, sound bath meditation, or get an aura reading, all of which help me stay grounded in this crazy city!
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I’d have to say other authors such as Louise Hay, Gabrielle Bernstein, Brendon Burchard, and Pema Chöndrön (just to name a few) really inspired me and made me believe I can conquer anything I put my mind to. I’d also like to thank Sean Croxton for motivating me daily with his podcast; if you are unfamiliar you have to check him out. I also will be forever grateful for the 5 women who came to my very first event when I was just starting to develop my brand because without their support and encouragement I may have not continued down this path that I am so passionate about.
