Hailing from India and being a Bollywood buff, My favorite quote of all time is a very famous dialogue from the 2007 hit Bollywood – Hindi movie ‘Om Shanti Om’ said by one of the biggest superstars of all time Shah Rukh Khan. “Itni Shiddat se maine tumhe paane ki koshish ki hai, ke har zarre ne mujhe tumse Milane ki saazish ki hai. Kehte hain ki…agar kisi cheez ko dil se chaaho to puri kayanat usey tumse milane ki koshish mein lag jaati hai.” Which translates to the below in English – I have tried so hard to get you, that every ounce of me has conspired to unite me with you. My favorite quote is “Big doors swing on little hinges” by W. Clement Stone. In life and in business, the biggest wins or losses all come down to one small thought, decision or effort. My favorite quote is from the play, “Well” by Lisa Kron: “If you’re part of the main group all the time, you never learn to see the world from anyone’s point of view but your own.” – I love how true this is. I know people who are stuck where they grew up and are more racist because they have never had the chance to be the “other”. I think it is essential to go out and see the world and be among varying groups of people to understand others’ points of view, and to not be part of the dominant culture all of the time. “If you have a problem, solve it.” Throughout the years I’ve heard this in different ways from people I came to respect and admire. I believe it means to keep pushing forward, that there is virtually no obstacle which is impossible to overcome.
