We had the good fortune of connecting with Daisy Gomez and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Daisy, do you have any habits that you feel contribute to your effectiveness?
The most important habits for success are discipline, consistency, and taking action. These are habits that many people struggle with but when done consistently , they give you the results you want. Discipline for my business is crucial because I am self employed . Not every day do I feel motivated, but I am driven. That drive is what keeps you going even on the days you do not feel motivated . And discipline is the key to succeed on your daily goals . You force yourself to get through the day because you know the end result depends on you consistently disciplining yourself in that specific area you are working on. Taking action is the most crucial. I have met so many people that have excellent business ideas, and so much creativity, and they read all the books on motivation. And At the end of the day take no action on it. All those great ideas are just left as ideas and in open air, until someone else comes , takes those ideas and puts them to action and you are left with regret because it could have been you. My advice based on my experience so far , is take action. Bring those ideas to life. If you don’t like them you can make changes or create something new. But only through the experience of taking action constantly can you experience the everlasting joy of your work.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
My business is not about me, its about my customers. As I’m hairstyling , I take mental notes about what works for their hair and what does not. I think of ways I can create hair accessories that will make their hair routine easier and faster to do on a daily basis. I make everything from scratch such as hair clips , headbands, and comfortable scrunchies. I source everything locally and provide exciting packaging. I love emphasizing my packaging as if it were an influencer receiving a PR package like the ones you see on social media. I think we are all influencers in our own way way wether we have a big following or not . And I want every customer to feel important because they are to me. And most importantly, I focus on women’s attitude toward their hair. I want to encourage them to always be proud of their natural hair and to wear it and take care of it as best as possible. All these factors give me the opportunity to form everlasting friendships with incredible people. I’ve learned that putting people and love first is what matters. I’m learning to form a business around my core values . I am really excited to continue on this journey of learning and connecting with other people.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I would definitely take them to Burgers Never Say Die. This is one of the greatest burger joints ever! A must try for anyone visiting Los Angeles. This joint is truly something special. After a nice meal , I would take my friends to one of the many scenic views of Los Angeles, Mulholland Drive Or Zuma Beach. Los Angeles is definitely rich in food culture and scenic views.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
There is a few people that have contributed greatly to my inspiration and motivation as a new Comer to the business world. First and foremost my brother Michael, whom I’ve been taking care of for a few years. Everyday he reminds me of how fragile and beautiful life can be. I do my best to live a life he can be proud of. I want him to live through me and I work really hard so that he he always has access to any medical needs. My mom is also such a big part of my life and business. She is one of my bestest friends and my number 1 supporter. She has always believed in me even when I didn’t believe in myself. And finally, I would like thank my mentors Andy Frisella and Ed Mylett. Prior to their mentorship I felt really lost and I felt as if my life had no purpose. I prayed to God at some point and asked him for guidance, I told God that I needed a lifestyle change. I was not living, only existing. I prayed for guidance and ended up under the greatest influence of two great, big-hearted and selfless people. They are the best entrepreneurs I know. And although I have yet to learn so much about business and life, they have paved a path of righteousness , faith, and perseverance.
