“Lo mejor está por venir” it means “the best is yet to come”. I saw this painted on the restaurant wall we dined at Mother’s Day Chicago 2011. As a memory, it reminds me of a moment my mom gave me a spontaneous lesson in faith and inspired me to hope for my future. I wrote the affirmation in Sharpie on my Spanish notebook. It inspires me to keep going and serves as an affirmation for milestones I’ve accomplished that seemed impossible to reach back in 2011. Read more>>

Follow Your Dreams. I would not be where I am today without the little boy that said that to me many year ago. Before becoming a TV Producer I was a Clinical Social Worker for 10 years. The last 5 years as a Social Worker I worked in Children’s Hospice and met so many incredible kids that changed my life. One child in particular Tommy was wise beyond his years, and in his last months looked at me and said “promise me you will follow your dreams.” Tommy passed away shortly afterwards, and about a year later I lost my job and a friend of mine who worked in a local TV studio in Virginia Beach where I lived at the time asked me if I wanted to come in and PA for him until I found another job as a Clinical Social Worker. There is a quote I always think about when I’m about to start a new novel or story, especially if I’m trying something new. “The only way to achieve the impossible is to believe it is possible.” – Charles Kingsleigh, Alice in Wonderland. Kingsleigh’s quote reminds me to strive harder and believe in myself, it reminds me any dreams can come true. I never thought I’d write a novel, let alone finish one, yet now I’m an award-winning author in two genres and currently collaborating with a fellow writer in a third. I find this quote inspiring, reminding me when adversity strikes and I think all is lost to dream the impossible. Read more>>

Yes, I do. It’s a quote I randomly found on Pinterest; it reads, “Actually, life is beautiful and I have time.” I think what makes this quote occupies a special place in my heart is the fact that it is a necessary reminder even though it might not always be nice to hear since life can blatantly suck and one can easily feel that they’re running out of time. Because despite all the tribulations and sufferings in this life, life indeed is beautiful; it is heart-wrenchingly beautiful. And the concept of time, the enigma of time is not as straightforward as a linear thing. So yes, we do have time to live our lives. Time is never going anywhere; it’s more about how we are both utilizing and enjoying the time that we have in our hands. Read more>>

I’d like to quote the great coach John Wooden: “Personal greatness is measured is measured by one’s own potential, not against that of someone else on the team or elsewhere.” Read more>>

‘Don’t chase the butterfly, mend your garden and the butterflies will come’ I read this in a book once and it has always stuck with me. When we really want something in life we often feel the need to do the absolute most to chase it and make it ours, but people can feel desperation and energy doesn’t lie. Without realising it sometimes we are actually pushing that thing further away. Of course we need to set goals and work hard but it’s a great reminder that its ok to take a step back, take a deep breath and relax into what it is we are doing. Work on being the best version of yourself and you will naturally attract these things quicker than you think. Read more>>

“The most difficult thing is the decision to act.” As someone with multiple interests who often struggles with decision-making, This quote really resonates with me. Growing up, I was always told not to rush when making decisions. In order to be successful, I was advised to carefully weigh all the pros and cons, taking all the risks into consideration before making a move. However, I ended up not pursuing many things I wanted to do because of the fear that I might not succeed. After working many years on a safe path, the feeling that something is missing grew stronger in me. I found myself longing for change. So, I decided to act on my urge and started a creative studio with my partner. Read more>>

‘The play was a great success, but the audience was a disaster.’ – Oscar Wilde This is a quote I’ve loved for a long time now. Firstly, I think it’s hilarious! But beyond that, I also think it conveys a hugely important (and often-disregarded) sentiment, which applies both to the plight of being an artist, and more broadly to daily life. As humans and creators, we rely far too often on the responses of others to determine the value of ourselves and our work. We seek validation in order to affirm our merit and, as a result, lose any sense of agency when it comes to what we do. There is no doubt that critique is fundamental in helping us to develop and grow and we should of course take it into account. Read more>>

A quote that I live by is “The highest human act is to inspire” by the late Nipsey Hussle. I love it so much that I even got it tattooed. In general, my favorite word is “inspire,” and I believe that I was put on this Earth to help others realize their potential — whether that’s a client, social media supporter or friend. I think it’s a blessing to be able to create content that not only makes me happy, but also motivates others to take risks and live in their truth. Read more>>

My favourite quote is the Ancient Greek maxim ‘Know Thyself’ and that’s something that has stayed with me for decades – it kicks off my very first novel, published way back in 2010! What I love about this quote is that it crystallises so many different things into a cohesive strand… and that my ‘take’ or reply can change over time. It’s helpful to pare back and examine our own intent, motivation, and strengths and weaknesses in many areas of life and I do think examining some of these — bringing them out into the sunlight and thinking about them — can only prove helpful, both in professional and personal spheres of life.
