We had the good fortune of connecting with Emily Lau and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Emily, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking.
Starting my business was a risk. When I finally decided to quit my job as a TV writer/producer to start The Little Bra Company full time, it felt like stepping off a cliff. Even after 13 years in business, I still consider that moment the most difficult business decision I have ever made. Once I made that decision to put everything financially and personally into my own business, all decisions after that were about surviving and making it happen. I was in it, so there was no time to think about each decision too long or turn back. It was survival, and somehow that makes decision-making easier for me.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I started The Little Bra Company® in 2007, because I couldn’t find any attractive bras that fit my smaller frame and chest. The bras that fit better looked like training bras, and the ones that were sexier did not fit quite right. Many of my petite friends shared my lament, and so I created a collection of bras that fit and flattered our specific body types better. Today, The Little Bra Company® offers a full bra wardrobe for the petite customer, and every bra has some thoughtful design element that will help give you a boost in more ways than one. Thank you for sharing my love of lingerie, and for choosing TLBC for your lingerie wardrobe. After all, GOOD THINGS DO COME IN SMALL PACKAGES®”!

Any great local spots you’d like to shoutout?
I am from Pasadena so our adventure would start there! We would visit the beautiful Huntington Library, Art Museum, and Botanical Gardens. A full day would be spent there soaking up the scenery. Next, we would stop to shop in Old Town Pasadena, where my favorite stores are centrally located. For food, a visit to Boiling Crab always satisfies. And let’s not forget dessert! My all-time favorite ice cream parlor, Fosselman’s will do the trick. Lastly, we can’t forget the beach! We would take a fun drive down PCH.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
