Jacob Chattman | Actor, Screenwriter & Producer

“Love the not knowing” – Sharon Chatten. When I first heard these words, I had no idea what they would end up meaning to me. I was in an acting class, I knew my lines. I knew my intentions. I knew the subtext. I knew everything about my character, but I had forgotten to live in the moment. I had planned so much of what was “supposed” to happen that when, inevitably, it fell off the rails I had no way of dealing with it. I was embarrassed. I had let myself , my partner, and, more importantly, the character I was portraying down – so much of my ego had been investing in “doing well” that I had forgotten to live. After my scene, my teacher and mentor, Sharon Chatten, said little. In fact, her silence was more telling than anything, but after a moment she said “learn to love the not knowing.” Read more>>

Every failure is not a failure, but a lesson learned. This quote means so much to me in business and in life. One of my mentors that I worked closely with for about 5 years before she passed told me this and it stuck ever since. To me, this quote is everything. It shows the mentality of a person and how they perceive things in life. Yes things can get hard, but I am also very positive and always try to see what I learned from a situation, try to understand what I could have done better or see that things happen for a reason and move on. Even in a work environment, mistakes happen, and as long as you learn from it or improve, no matter how big or small you get to choose if you want to become better from it. Read more>>

Jess Clark | Singer-Songwriter

My favorite quote of all time was given by one of my biggest inspirations and idols, Lady Gaga. She said, “Never be afraid to get kicked in the teeth. Let the blood and the bruises define your legacy.” I think this specific quote has always really resonated with me because there have often been times throughout my life and career where I’ve felt knocked down or misunderstood. Although I may have felt pain in those moments, I truly feel that each one of those experiences has greatly shaped not only the artist, but the HUMAN I am. I feel as though some of my toughest times have helped to define my artistry and creativity, and have contributed to some of my best ideas and work. I’ve learned, over time of course, to wear my scars proudly and I think the fact that I’ve chosen to do that really defines who I am. Read more>>

Vince Lombardi “The only place success comes before work is in the dictionary” There are a lot of people that confuse success with luck. Although that can sometimes be true, it is nearly always because of hard work. Read more>>

One of my favorite Moguls and Businessman, Shawn Carter, better known as Jay-Z, once said, “I believe everyone in the world is born with genius level talent. Apply yourself to whatever your genius at, and you can do anything in the world.” My “genius level talent” has always been connected to my culture, love for fashion and style. I started planting my creative seeds over 15 years ago and worked in Corporate America for over a decade. Since being furloughed in March due to our Global Pandemic, my small business has been my motivation, inspiration, therapy, and self care. I’ve applied all of my time and dedication to that and my life has been full of joy, passion and positive energy. Read more>>

“Just because you’re not where you want to be, doesn’t mean you’re failing at life. God is not through with you. The best is yet to come.” This quote by Trent Shelton is one that truly resonates with me right now. As an actor, it is so easy to get caught comparing yourself to others and stuck feeling like you’re just never good enough. I have faith in God and I have leaned on my faith to pull me through the toughest times. This quote reminds me that God’s plan is bigger than mine and certainly not on my timeline. It encourages me to press forward in spite of obstacles, setbacks and industry hurdles. Read more>>

The things I do need to improve the quality of my life. And if it can benefit others as well, even better. No harm should be done. What I have noticed in my life is that if I don’t pay attention to whether something I may want to do or don’t do, will improve the quality of my life, it usually doesn’t. Once I put my focus on that goal, than a sane choice can be made. I have a tendency to act quickly on things, and then I miss the moment when I should hesitate, and ask the question, will this improve the quality of my life? I think this is something that is lost on quite a few people out there. We would all make better decisions if we paused to ask that simple question. If it is yes, then you ask, will anyone be harmed? If the answer is no, then proceed. Read more>>
