We had the good fortune of connecting with Gigi Ghobrial and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Gigi, how do you think about risk?
We all fear the failure that can come with taking risks, but how can we experience success without stepping out of our comfort zone? For me, faith plays a huge part when accepting unfamiliar tasks. I try to calculate them to the best of my ability without going in blindly. Not every risk will profit success, but there’s no way to know unless you try. Some risks you take will lead to failure, but with failure comes the opportunity to learn from your mistakes. Other risks lead to success, room to grow, and bigger rewards. Rule or be Ruled is the ultimate mantra when taking risks in life.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Art can be subjective, and that makes storytelling really important. What sets my brand, Rule or be Ruled, apart from the rest is the mindset it represents. It’s not only about selling and designing amazing gear for me, it’s about creating an inspiring movement. The more creative and authentic you are, the more lives you can motivate. Thus the bigger impact you can make on someone’s life. When you wear Rule or be Ruled gear, you are showcasing empowerment, pride, and a sense of awareness. The biggest factor that can be found at the core of your being is your mindset. Your mindset is a powerful force. It can either enslave us or empower us, but we must learn to use its power wisely.

Any great local spots you’d like to shoutout?
There are so many areas in LA full of culture and diversity. Los Angeles is home to a wide range of ethnic, diverse communities. We really do get the best of everything here. I would start off by visiting an area like the grand central market in LA; it has such a wide range of food options to choose from. After that, we would take a stroll at Venice beach, where people from all over the world visit. It’s definitely a trendsetting beach. I would follow that up with a visit to Chinatown, home of great food and good vibes. For the grand finale, I would end the evening watching the night skyscraper by the Hollywood sign at the Griffith Observatory. I’m always so inspired by our surroundings, and there is no better place to be inspired than Los Angeles.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
When building a brand you are ultimately building a team. The stronger your team building skills, the more success you will achieve. I personally couldn’t have gotten this far if it wasn’t for the amazing friends and mentors I’ve made along the way. Although life may seem challenging at times, good friends in your corner will help you overcome the struggles. Life is a journey. It’s the struggles we go through, the experiences we are put in, and the people that come in and out of our lives who shape us into the amazing people we are today. Dream big. Be strategic and selective with who you share your time and energy with. Everyone has the power to help shape you, but in the end, it’s your choice.
