We had the good fortune of connecting with Gina Colin and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Gina, how do you think about risk?
No risk, no reward. My life has been a series of risks taken in order to advance in my personal life and in my career. I think that risks are a necessary part of succeeding in life.
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
I started out as a corporate relocation coordinator when I was nineteen years old and I have been helping women, more specifically mothers transition into new places and spaces ever since. I founded Speak to Encourage to provide one on one virtual call mentor meetups for moms looking for extra support and encouragement during times of transition and personal growth. For example, some of my clients are moms returning to school to advance in their careers, taking a leap of faith with a home relocation or a job change, etc.. My passion for mentorship is what I believe to be what sets me apart from others who do what I do. I consider my business a “call a friend” option for moms. I provide a non-judgemental, confidential space for moms to vent and regroup. We meet, chat, and work through one of three motherhood courses that I authored as an outline for our calls. The courses emphasize the importance of work/life balance, self-care, and personal fulfillment. I have experienced the most growth as a woman and as a mother when I was able to let my guard down and felt genuinely supported. My approach is best known for being down to earth, relatable, and effective because of my passion, education, and personal experience. I am proud to say that Speak To Encourage has a great community of individuals who are positive, supportive, and encouraging to one another. I look forward to expanding our services to new clients this summer.
Any great local spots you’d like to shoutout?
I have out of town visitors often and when I do I am not much for itineraries. I like to go with the flow and allow things to unfold as they may so my guests are relaxed and feel like they are on vacation. If I plan anything it’s got to be the nightlife! A few of my absolute favorite spots to take my guests in the city are Spire 73, The Edison, and Warwick.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I want to dedicate my shoutout to GOD for always having my back and guiding my path no matter what turns I’ve taken. That is what is real to me. My spirituality and faith have played a huge part in every success in my life. I would like to thank the family members that poured into me and paved the way. I also want to acknowledge the good people that I have crossed paths with that used the time they had with me to speak into me, encourage me, and point me in the right direction. A few names off the top of my head include Mrs. Hansen, Mr. Reel, Mr. Lloyd, Stella Barclay, Sherry Crawford, Paula Jones, Cynthia Allen, Honey Pfleger, and Tracy Green. Thank you for believing in me before I believed in myself. My mentor business is dedicated to people like you.
