We had the good fortune of connecting with Hannah Ureste and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Hannah, do you have some perspective or insight you can share with us on the question of when someone should give up versus when they should keep going?
In my eyes no one should ever give up their goals and dreams. I speak about this topic to my friends and family all the time. This may seem tough at times because we get too sucked into society and everyone’s opinions and views on what WE choose to do. To fight all the toxic people and noise we need to find our purpose with what we are creating. For example, my music! I know not everyone is going to like what I create but that is okay! But what I am creating is making someone happy out there in this world, what I am creating is helping people relax and take a breath from the real world. Though a song may not be a lifetime long, it is long enough to make impressions in someone’s life. Everyone has a story to share and everyone’s stories and feelings are different. When one finally finds this, they will see that they need to keep going and to never give up. The only reason one will give up is if THEY choose to. Like I love to say, “there is always a light at the end of every tunnel.” Going through tough life choices on whether you should keep pursing something makes one stronger once they see the purpose. When you find out you have helped someone out there it helps drive you down the path of more creativity and more hunger to grow in what you are creating. The moment you put everything down and say forget it all, you must remember why you started. We all do what we do for a reason and it’s okay to have dreams that may seem hard to reach, but the further you stretch your arms out and knock out the bad energies and embrace the love and positivity, your hands will stretch farther than you’ve ever imagined and soon your hugging the world. The world is YOURS!
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
What I’m creating is helping people relax, think back to times that made them smile, and let them take a step back from reality to get lost in the sounds of my trumpet and voice. My voice is somewhat different from what I have been told, but different of course in a good way! So that is a plus! The tone of my trumpet is my strong point. Many have told me that my sound is exceptionally clean and strong, which I hope so because I did/do practice a lot to create the sound I have. I’m proud of everything I have done and created. Being an independent artist is the best feeling ever. I have control of all my songs and what I want to create and the quality of it all. Though there are some rough patches just like everything it is still so rewardable to me and it makes me proud to say, “wow I did that.” I got to where I am today by being honest with people. Caring for others like they would want to be cared for. Not being fake! I am someone who people love to be around, not only for my humor but for my positivity I bring to them. I help others see a bigger picture than what they thought, and people really do appreciate that when it’s brought to them in the correct manner. I also stick to my words and don’t leave people hanging off a cliff. Nothing is ever easy in life, and I have hit some major bumps in the road like finding out who was using me and who really cared about me. I hit financial bumps at times which caused me to have a day job as well to provide me with what I need to better my music and get it out to the world faster and stronger. Of course, I’ve gone through people who did not think a female could do it, etc. The list goes on, but I wouldn’t change it for anything because it helped shape who I am today. I would like the world to know that we need more love than hate. We need to care about those who care about us and with that all being said that is what I stand for as an artist and as a human on this earth. I’m for the people and the music I am creating is to help others, not to make them angry or hurt.
Any great local spots you’d like to shoutout?
Being someone who’s a foodie, I have so many spots in Los Angles, this is a tough question! I love to drink juices so it would have to be Kreation forsure! If I feel like coffee, It would be either Document, Go Get Em’ Tiger, or Alchemist. Now for breakfast it would have to be between The Potato Sack, Birds Nest Cafe, Solar De Cahuenga, or Cassells. For dinner I’m thinking Hae Ha heng (Thai food), Village Pizzeria, California Kitchen Cafe, HOME, Pampas Grill, or some delicious Korean BBQ. If I’m craving beer my top two spots are Angel City Brewery and The Brews Brothers in North Hollywood. All these spots I’ve named are my top favorite local spots that I love and always recommend to anyone who is visiting from out of town.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I dedicate this to my family! My mom has always been the strongest person I know and who has always showed me the light when all I saw was darkness. My father who gave me the strength to let go of what people say negatively about what I have and continue to make. My brother who has given me the extra push of following my art so that I can be the best role model for him that dreams do come true. My fiancée who has always helped me get back up when I thought I was not good enough. My best friend/producer Ian Charlie who has always wanted to help me succeed since day one. My close friends who have always supported my music and continue to. I am probably missing a few others, but I am a grateful human and those know who they are that really have helped me and continue to always be there.
