We had the good fortune of connecting with Jane Donahue and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Jane, do you have some perspective or insight you can share with us on the question of when someone should give up versus when they should keep going?
The isolation and limited opportunities are overwhelming during this quarantine, and we can’t help but think about what to do next to keep our business going. To know the hard work it takes to build your business from scratch and to brace yourself for this rough time, even if that means placing your business on hold if necessary . Hard times will pass but the love you have will remain. This is a defining moment for small businesses. The world is recognizing the need to support each other in a selfless way. Small business is hard work and people are recognizing hard times and coming to appreciate what they need and what it takes to get it! When we as a small business know our community and our customers it is comforting to know we can still make connections and provide our resources to them when many large companies have limited their access. Becoming more virtual in our social presence and less in our physical presence is also a new way to evolve. Customers are reaching out for comfort at this time of isolation. People are trying their best to be more personally resourceful and as a small business owner I am seeing more value given to my product and this also helps me to want to keep going. I have been working on adding more delicious honey items to my offerings and this expands my business as I had planned to do. Such items as honey nut brittle, fruit & honey preserves, fruit & honey hand pies and honey sweetened biscotti. Continuously visualizing where you want your business to be and adding more to continue to keep customers interested and satisfied. Taking suggestions from your customers is important in expanding as well. I have found my true joy in creating and sharing with others which brings immeasurable satisfaction and the drive to keep going. For this I am thankful, and hope we will meet one day and enjoy a honey treat together.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I am a creative person, always looking to express myself in new ways. I excel in a freestyle environment, where I can create and hear myself think. I am also a fitness instructor and teach group classes, which I thoroughly enjoy in a creative inspiring way as well. Because I enjoy being quiet and creative I have had to overcome this to become the group fitness instructor, this has helped me to express all that I enjoy to others in a confident and outgoing manner. I would like everyone to know my sincere no nonsense work ethic and intense personal drive is the passion that I bring to my brand and story.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
San Diego area, La Jolla . The downtown La Jolla is a lot of fun, We would eat at “Trust Restaurant” its so trendy. Hang out in the Gas Lamp district. We would also enjoy The Aquarium.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My family who have helped to make this all possible.
