We had the good fortune of connecting with Jennifer Jacobs and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Jennifer, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
I was never satisfied with a regular job & knew early on that working a 9-5 wasn’t for me. At first I bounced from one job to another thinking I just needed to find the right field. But deep down I knew I wanted to be in the talent creative field & I also wanted more freedom and flexibility.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
My main passion has always been in acting/modeling. Anyone who’s tried pursuing this field knows the struggle is real! From getting an audition to booking it & then back to nothing again. It’s filled with a lot of highs & a lot of lows, it’s a never ending cycle that can take a huge toll on you mentally & emotionally. For me, it was very unstable & I knew I needed to figure out another way to make money when I wasn’t booking. So I got into photography & eventually content creation for brands/business’. I’m proud to say that my professional life now is more aligned with my passions. I would say the biggest challenge for me was overcoming the negative criticisms from families & friends. Over time, I’ve learned to not take what others say personally. I wouldn’t be where I am today if I listened to other people’s negativity. Never let others dictate what you’re capable of.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
My city is really small & sleepy which is why I love it! Aside from “The Cask & Hammer” which is a cool small bar that carries a great variety of craft beers, there’s not really much to do. For a good time, I’d drive further out. Prolly take them to the tide pools in Laguna Beach and check out all the little marine life. Spend a day in San Diego’s North County to go brewery hopping (The Belching Beaver is my fave for stouts) Outlet shopping in Cabazon is a must! Spa Day at the Glen Ivy in Corona. Then a day for mystical stuff! I’d take them to the best psychic shop that I know of “House of Spirit” & my fave crystal shop “The Mind’s Eye II” The other 2 days I’d leave open for hangover recovery or just a chill bbq day.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My shout out dedication goes out to my husband! He was actually the one that encouraged me to quit working a regular job and just pursue my passion. I truly am blessed to have a partner that’s so caring & supportive.
