Jessica Klausing | Music Blogger

We had the good fortune of connecting with Jessica Klausing and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Jessica, how have you been affected by Covid-19?
I think people are seeking music as a means to escape reality more so than ever. We’re all experiencing the same feelings of uncertainty right now. We’re all scared, anxious, alone and depressed. It’s a scary time. Music connects us to each other. Due to the shelter-at-home orders, most artists are live streaming to connect with music fans worldwide. Our local artists and businesses are struggling financially during this time. Many live music venues are facing foreclosure and, artists are being forced to cancel or postpone tours which is a major source of their income. I’ve been working with many local artists, helping to spread the word of their live streams and to help share their music.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I use my blog to help promote upcoming Los Angeles music artists and professionals. Living in Los Angeles has opened my eyes and ears to so much musical talent. I’m a big supporter of live music. There is no greater pleasure than watching an artist bare his or her soul to the world. I love getting out discovering new music. I strive to introduce the newer music as well as re-introduce some old favorites too.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Hotel Café in Hollywood is my favorite music venue. I recommend it to all music fans visiting in town. They feature the most outstanding local musical talent of all genres. I have never been disappointed with their selection. California is blessed with gorgeous beaches and hiking trails. I would spend the week beach hopping from Oceanside Beach to Santa Barbara, hiking through Topanga Canyon and ending the week at the wineries in Sonoma.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My incredible Mass Communications professors at the University of West Georgia! I want to especially thank Dr. Brad Yates, Dr. Amber Smallwood, Dr. Doug Vinson, and Don Lanham. I wouldn’t be in Los Angeles living my dream without their support and inspiring guidance.
