We had the good fortune of connecting with Mack Goldsbury and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Mack, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
I really had no choice I do love music and the whole idea of playing jazz being able to create your own solos I was completely fascinated.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I started playing music when I was very very young and continue to uptown today if we ever get through the coronavirus and get some work again. But I’m doing some recording projects from home now. You always have to adopt I’ve moved many times I lived in El Paso Texas growing up went to summer camps in Carlsbad California .Went to the University of New Mexico State and University of North Texas. I taught in many universities and schools in the New Jersey New York area..Taught also at the University of Berlin ,El Paso Conservatory of music, Onate High school in Las Cruces New Mexico and Cathedral high school in El Paso. You have to be very flexible as a music teacher you have to move where there’s work. Also as a jazz musician I’ve lived all over these places and enjoyed every one of them and playing for the people there

Any great local spots you’d like to shoutout?
I believe so many places and ever traveled and had such a great time is hard to pick out one place that you would take people to.. But I was saying El Paso Texas you should go to Lucys to have some food everyone loves it I would say if you’re in Berlin Germany please go to the A Trane jazz club. If you’re in New York City go to the famous Village Vanguard. Also if you’re in Berlin Germany you want to go to the Badenscher Hof For great food and music. if you’re in El Paso Texas you might check out Wine Attitude very good place to have wine and great music

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
California jazz foundation, the jazz exchange and all the great friends in Europe. The great jazz club the A-Trane in Berlin. My saxophone instructor from the University of North Texas John Giordano And my first private teachers Gerald Hunter, Jim Gilbert and Joe Booth
