We had the good fortune of connecting with Max Figueroa and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Max, what do you want your legacy to be?
I think I just want to leave behind a positive change in this world. If people remember me or not I could care less. Well, okay I suppose if I’d want to be remembered it would be as someone who did something good in this world. Simply a good person who does good things. I’m very passionate and hopeful for future generations. Even to the folks currently, that we’ll have it better, because we’re here to make it better. There’s always something that can help improve the lives of others and for me it’s writing my music or making art that spreads hope. Love, healing, peace whatever it needs me to be, whatever it takes. There! That there is what I want to be remembered as.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I am very proud of what it is I do and create. I’m just trying to spread good vibes. And that will always excite me. Raising the vibes. You know, I just haven’t had the easiest story to get to where I am today. Being transgender and having faith to follow ones dreams. Overcoming challenges had a lot to do with having to not only stand but be comfortable in ones vulnerability. And thats just not an easy thing to do as a human, for some reason. And I channel this through my art, my music. This is what I believe truly sets apart artists, musicians, creatives, whatever it is. And I think thats also what we should be most proud of. I want the world to know my story, but also that your story and mine aren’t so different and that we’ve both come long ways.
Any great local spots you’d like to shoutout?
Oh Downtown Riverside has everything you’ll need! Art, Live Music, & amazing vegan food that I swear I didn’t even know was vegan. It’s always a good night when you’re in the city. Have a little drink, dance a little. You don’t need anything fancy or specific. Just these little things and some people who are worth the while.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
A little credit? Oh no all the credit! All the credit goes to my family, friends and those supporting my music. Thank you for taking time to listen to my music & the support. It’s all helped motivate me to keep on doing what I’m doing you know?
