We had the good fortune of connecting with 86 Joon and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi 86 Joon, how do you think about risk?
This is exactly what risk is… Risk is associated with fear, and fear becomes not trying. For those who don’t know me, I’m not a thrill seeker when it comes to jumping out of planes or even flying for that matter even though I do it a lot, it scares me. Breaking fear is breaking a barrier and in order for me to get to the place I needed to I had to take risks(what I feared) in order to accomplish what I wanted to accomplish. Most peoples fears are associated with pleasing people but that’s never been my goal. I fear the next level, and the next level means climbing higher or jumping from a height I have never been to and the other side of that is death or abundance to me and that’s the only odds I play with these days.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
My story is simple… I hustled to get where I am and I won’t look back. I am a creative in every aspect of the word. I do music, curate companies and businesses as well as consult people for their future. Nobody wants what you want and if they do there may always be an agenda. Most people want others to want what they want while not wanting anything out of it but that’s never been the practical decision for me. I learned that if there isn’t a need for us within the relationship then it means nothing and having kids already means that I don’t need anymore that aren’t mine. I’m cut throat, burning a bridge means that I can build another if they did me wrong and your position means nothing if our ethics don’t line up. People put too much emphasis on social media and followers but that doesn’t equate to the future or finances. I’m on a plane in first class right now writing this interview because I can, not because somebody helped me get here. Nobody cares about the sad stories on a day to day, they just make good articles and stories.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If my friends were coming to California, we’d probably leave… I mean, this is definitely post COVID so if we go anywhere we are doing mushrooms in an AirBNB in Palm Springs, Joshua Tree or Big Bear. We drink local at OLD STUMP, LAST NAME Breweries or the local HOMAGE or GLASSHOUSE Bar. Tea at VITAL POMONA with local crafted goods or the rest is business where I live with the best weather and the most culture beach at VENICE.
