Meet Abby Bryan | Actor

We had the good fortune of connecting with Abby Bryan and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Abby, why did you decide to pursue a creative path?
Neither of my parents are actors, but growing up, my mom taught at a dance studio, and growing up in that environment was very formative. I still have memories from watching movies on our vhs player in dressing rooms with my sister or trying to make the parents in the lobby laugh. My Grandpa was also a huge factor- he loved Broadway and SNL and raised my mom on movie musicals who in turn raised us on movie musicals. It was never really a question for me. Once I started at 10 years old, I just didn’t stop. It was something that felt right, that gave me joy and set my soul on fire, as cheesy as that sounds.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
As an actor, something that is important to me is leaning into the listening, the learning and the community aspect of what we do. It can be a very self focused career if you let it, but I’d like to think that something that continues to be my “why” is the ability to learn more beyond myself and share important stories. Something vital I have learned is that everyones timing is so different. The industry is not always predictable but it doesn’t mean that there isn’t space for every single person on the screen.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
As a soon to be local, Id have to say that I am a sucker for The Getty! It is a must visit if you need a little break. I am also a big fan of the Melrose Trading Post.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Oh my goodness. My parents. Having your kid tell you that they will be jumping into an unsecure career path isn’t necessarily what you want to hear but they have never faltered in their support once. They are my biggest cheerleaders and my biggest advocates.
Additionally my fiance Gabee who is a composer and my friends who are also pursuing acting have created such a safe space of encouragement, love, joy, accountability and genuine celebration for each other. I know that is truly a rare thing in this field and I am grateful for it everyday.
