We had the good fortune of connecting with Abby Quintero and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Abby, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
I was only about 1 year fresh living in Northern Virginia and 8 months into my bartending job – it took for me to be ugly crying in my bedroom talking to my new boyfriend about how I moved from Texas to start my new life and I was so sick and tired of this revolving cycle I chose. I had enough money saved up and he believed in my dreams so much, I was able to start my own photography business. I decided what kind of person I wanted to be in this new life. It was scary quitting my job and having no experience, but I know I’m friendly and have no problem meeting new people. As long as I keep my pace going, I’m going to reach somewhere. And I did!

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I’m a first generation Mexican-American, business owner, photographer, creative artist who said, “eff it, let’s go” started her journey in a new city and did it while she was scared. With the help of my tribe, I was able to make it happen. I bought my Canon Powershot G5X for a Chicago trip to start my YouTube journey. It never happened, but years later it’s the same camera I used to start! I had no clue what f-stops or what shutter speed was so I made the decision to learn. It is up to me – when I have the world at my fingertips, I can do absolutely anything. Our phones are our most valuable tool, but most misuse it. The most important lesson I have learned in entrepreneurship is that you quit your 9-5 to start working for yourself 24/7 and it’s true. Any opportunity to grow, I have to take it because it is up to me or I miss 100% of the chances I do not take. My road wasn’t easy, but easier than most because I started with money saved and my boyfriend took over the financial responsibility. Most don’t have that opportunity. I always worked, you could never catch me without a job even during 2020. I decided that if I was going to do this, it’s all or nothing, and failures won’t be my setback, they’ll be my comeback. My brand is about making anything happen, I welcome all kinds of creativity to photograph or video-graph. I started my business with a thought and a will and I dove head-first into a world I wanted to be in. I offer that kind of experience to my clients. Those who’ve come to me saying the idea might be “too crazy”, “too much”, “I’m not confident” or the “I don’t know maybe” have always loved their results after working with me. This space was created for you to explore your ideas. Photo and videography are tools made to bring our souls to life and everyone deserves to see their value in front of the camera and behind.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
We live in our camper near the mountains, our week long trip would start with the obvious, a hike to find a waterfall! We love the outdoors, we cleanse our energy by reconnecting with Mother Nature, and grow our experiences by meeting new people from all over the world. Taking them to sightsee around the DC mall, an outdoor picnic, scooters, ice cream, pictures! Signing up for classes like yoga by the monument, sip and paint, and all kinds of festivals and farmers markets that are held weekly by the city! Artechouse is an amazing experience I would want my bestie to have – it took my breath away and I felt like a kid all over again being in a room full of twinkling eyes. Smithsonian Museums are history books shaped into buildings with a lot more pictures and I am always grateful for the knowledge I gain afterward. The National Harbor for the amazing restaurants, Ferris wheel, and the river. Great Falls in Virginia to experience the rapids and the waterfalls! See a concert at Echo Stage, Wolf Trap, or Jiffy Lube! Seafood is a must when you’re in the coast so a trip to eat some Maryland crab and oysters is on the list! It would be a trip full of mountains and new experiences!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
A shoutout to my Ma y Papá for always believing in me – our road was never easy, but our outcome has always been in our favor and I am forever grateful for that. To my little sister, Kary, and my big brother, Tato, for always leveling up my creativity drive – you guys were the spark to this magic. To my boyfriend, Kevin, and his son, Liam for being my muse. You’ve both pushed me to become a better version of myself and won a part of my heart no one can take away.
