We had the good fortune of connecting with Abigail Gazda and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Abigail, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking
Risk is relative. Some folks would never step foot on a plane and some folks jump out of them for fun. Others agree to million dollar contracts and some hoard money as if every dollar were their last. Some people are willing go into debt for a dream and some are afraid to leave a soul sucking job for a secure income. Risk is about discomfort. Can you withstand the temporary discomfort this may cause? Are you willing to experience all possible consequences of this choice? The perception one has of risk is often linked to reward; “will this be worth it?” We can evaluate if a perceived risk is in alignment with our commitments, our highest good, and the highest good of all. If it is, then it could actually be considered a leap of faith. I have taken risks in life and business that have usually turned out to be leaps of faith. Throughout my career, I have been willing to trade the good for the great, even when many would consider the good ‘good enough.’ My vision, ambition, and entrepreneurial spirit have always pulled me farther than my small self would rather go. My leaps of faith helped me exit the corporate world, move across the country, author three books, launch the globally downloaded Hearts Unleashed Podcast, and build my transformation company Hearts Unleashed. Following the inspired guidance within has always proven to be worth the risk.
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
I got where I am today by constantly showing up for my vision. I have always had dreams of having a positive impact on millions of heart-centered humans. As a life long athlete, I am a natural competitor which has served me well when building a business didn’t come as naturally as my coaching abilities. Being from a small town in Indiana, just outside of Chicago, I had to learn how to offer my services with confidence and clarity. I didn’t know my worth when it came to charging for work that felt so philanthropic and yet, I wanted to make a living coaching, guiding, training, and leading. I want to make a difference on a global scale and my small town mindset limited my beliefs in the beginning. One of the greatest challenges I’ve had to overcome is my negative self talk. It is a daily practice and commitment to be kind to myself as I stretch, grow, and navigate territory I have never been on. As an athlete and recovering perfectionist, I have learned to prioritize ‘done is better than perfect’ and it has catapulted me into success I would have never reached by overanalyzing and criticizing. Setting aside my own inner critic dialogue has freed me up to serve greatly and also make a great living doing it. I refer to myself as a Clarity Coach. I help people get clear about WHO they are, what THEY want, how to get there, and to overcome what’s in the way. Too many great people are unclear, confused, burnt out, defeated, and disempowered by chasing inauthentic things in life. We have mostly been conditioned to desire things we wouldn’t really want if we met a truer version of ourselves. I help people do that. I also help those who are clear about their purpose and direction transform and transcend every obstacle between them and their dreams. People believe that if they would just work harder or be more disciplined that they would finally stop procrastinating or self sabotaging. We all know what to do to achieve our dreams. Healing and recreating our relationship with success and abundance is essential to closing the gap between where we are and where we dream of being. Doing so makes it safe for us to be, feel, and look successful. We can become successful beyond our wildest dreams if we feel it is safe and allowed. Only we can grant that permission to ourselves by doing the inner work. As an Emotional Intelligence and Subconscious Reprogramming Expert, I help people heal past wounding and trauma to restore their true nature. This is such an important piece because we are all so talented an also unaware about how our past limits our future. By better understanding ourselves, we can better relate to and serve humanity at our greatest capacity and potential. My work is more about the ripple effect of transformation than any one person and that is what gets me out of bed every morning. What’s next for me is marriage, travel, family, and coaching more leaders playing the game of global impact. What’s next for Hearts Unleashed is the launch of the Hearts Unleashed Academy, a year long group program that will have the capacity to serve thousands of people developing their Emotional Intelligence. There will always be more self development books flowing from these finger tips and constantly offering the next growth opportunity to those committed to living their fullest life. Long term, we are mapping our the plans for the Hearts Unleashed Headquarters that serve as a company gathering hub, podcast host site for our guests, and retreat center for client events. We love supporting our people and will always step into the next inspired level of service.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I like to say about LA, and SoCal in general, that we could do a hundred different things for a hundred different days, and never get bored. When any of my guests come from the Midwest, I am sure to give them my best locals tour starting by swopping them up from LAX and getting as close to the water as soon as possible. The first priority is a joy ride down PCH at sunset and stopping off at any and every pier or cliff edge that excites us. When I moved here from Indiana, I vowed to never lose the simple wonder and awe of California’s beauty; the ocean, the mountains, the palms, the sun. People from the Midwest LOVE experiencing Huntington Beach and I love showing off Ocean Ave and Balboa Island. It all feels like living in a movie scene and it is breath taking. I love to grab some cauliflower buffalo wings at Sage Vegan Bistro, in Culver City or spending a whole day strolling Abbot Kinney Blvd in Venice. Really, you can’t go wrong when the vibe is right. Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would LOVE to shout out one of my dearest friends, greatest cheerleader, and partner in crime, Deqwan Young. We went to college together and have ‘grown up’ side by side in entrepreneurship. Since day one of my coaching career, Qwan has answered the call of helping me share my work and message. We have been through the lows and the highs together. We wipe each other’s tears and pat each other’s backs. I know that if I need to remember who I am, I can call him or watch ANYTHING he has produced. Deqwan has been my videographer since before my biz started. He actually filmed my wedding! From there, I have always relied on him to make me look and sound good on camera, and he sure does. We are in the final stages of producing the Alchemizing Judgement documentary about the life and times of building a business, learning to love myself, and making a global impact. I would love to shout out Deqwan as the most amazing director and producer and world-renowned best friend.
