We had the good fortune of connecting with Adaku Ikotun and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Adaku, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
I started Adaku Inspires and Adaku Style to focus on inspiring individuals into knowing that they have a great destiny and purpose to accomplish in their lives. Adaku Style helps women discover their true beauty (both inner and outer) and gives them a BOOST in CONFIDENCE to let them know that THEY ARE LOVED.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I worked for one of the top hospitals in the world but felt the need to come out as I became a mom of three. While being a homemaker for a season, I instilled important values in our children in order for them to get ready for school. Coming back to the workforce was challenging but I knew it was necessary. I learned a lot along the way that equipped me to be where I am today. Important traits learned included patience, confidence, and focus to accomplish goals and tasks.

I want the world to know that you can do anything you set your mind to do. You can accomplish anything. Success is attainable if you work hard in achieving those goals you’ve set for yourself. I encourage anyone reading this to go after your dreams. Your setback will be your comeback. Stay focused and don’t worry about what everyone else is doing.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would like to shoutout my mentors Ms. Julie and Pastor Darlene for their words of wisdom. They are an example and encouragement to me. They constantly support me from day one and push me to become the best version of myself.
