We had the good fortune of connecting with Adam Pedicini and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Adam, how do you think about risk?
I view risk as a growth opportunity, the bigger the risk the bigger the growth. Being in the health profession though I know there’s certain types of risks that can be detrimental to our health. In the past there’s been times where I’ve taken a risk on something and just seen where it takes me. There’s been other times I’ve really looked at all my options and been very concise about the risk at hand. I’m very comfortable about making lifestyle choice that are based around my desire to enjoy life. Risks associated with money I find much harder to take and find they provide me with the most stress. While money is certainly important for me I’m not prepared to take large risks as I feel it could affect my quality of life. I live a modest life and find when I can prioritise my lifestyle it yields the best result. I’ve done multiple jobs over the years following skill sets and occupations I really enjoyed. Taking a risk to pivot and change occupations early on in life has meant I now have a very diverse skill set that is versatile and lends itself to new and exciting choices. I truly live for the present and while planning for the future is a smart play I’m putting more of my chips on the table to play now!

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I think art is at it’s best when the person making it has an interesting relationship with self. I want to learn about an individuals personal story and how they view the world. Having worked professionally as a dancer and actor I’m always using my life’s history to create that art. But more on a personal level it’s less about making it for people to see but more about what it provides me. My childhood, while mostly happy was marred by certain events that until I found a vehicle of expression were just repressed and then expressed with anger and frustration. Now my childhood trauma is a source of inspiration and fuel. I now find I’m creating art in my every day life even working as a trainer. It’s about my ability to share my story through different mediums.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I’ve gone to lots of places around the world and while it’s fun to see a new city my most memorable places have been ones outside the city. I love the Sierra’s in California and the fact they are so remote. I would take my friend up the West side of the Sierra’s and bunny hop along looking at the natural hot springs, take them climbing, try to summit Mt Whitney, visit death Valley and finish off at Mammoth Mountain enjoy some craft beers and mountain biking! The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My mum. aka the ‘Old Cheese’ is a person who has been there by my side all of the way. Now as a parent I really appreciate her ability to stand beside me but not in front and not behind. I’ve certainly ventured and explored outside of what I”m sure my mum could have every imagined for me. But never once was I meant with objection or criticism. I know my biggest challenge as a parent will be to stand by and watch my children make mistakes even if I know what the outcome will be. I’m notorious for over committing and yet my mum still says good luck! She’s still that voice of reason when I need it and what ever choice I make she provides a honest and supportive perspective.
