We had the good fortune of connecting with Adeshola Adeoye and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Adeshola, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
The thought process I had when I started my brand was something that first started to brew in my spirit at the age of 12 when I was diagnosed with chrohns disease( is a type of inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), at the time of my diagnosis information regarding a cure or the cause of my disease was limited. This left my family and I with only our faith and optimism to rely on, hence the name “OptimiXtS”. I also always wanted to have a clothing brand ever since a kid, growing up I was more into fashion and the formulas that helped these popular brands connect with the world. Brands like Bape and BBC had a large influence on my motivation to pursue the dream of creating a streetwear brand/business, I respected how both of the brands had connection with rap culture and the rap industry. I knew that my brand would have a combination of an influence of rap music and my positive attitude to create an everlasting brand of positivity in the World, I had the idea to create a brand that would help spread optimism through clothing with the plans of taking it to a larger scale .
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
The thing that I most proud of is the fact that my brand has been able to spread actual happiness and optimism to the people of Compton, although it wasn’t on a large scale it was still cool to give back to my community. Getting the chance to meet new people around the city in a positive light is one of the reasons I started my brand. The journey of establishing my brand has not been an easy road but through every obstacle I have gained experience that has helped me avoid larger obstacles down the way, One of the biggest lessons I learned was patience is key especially with fashion. I learned to properly organize all of my plans first before pushing to release merchandise, once organized I also learned that having a team is the next step to properly releasing product. With a team marketing and promotion is easier because the task of presenting the brand to the people has an energy boost allowing more people to follow and interact with the brand. If there is one thing I want the world to know about my brand is that OPTIMIXTS is a multi-faceted lifestyle brand that is true to the grain of spreading optimism and positivity, this positivity doesn’t just stop at clothing stay tuned to OPTIMIXTS we have some great things in store. THINKING 4 THA FUTURE
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
First and Foremost I would take them to the city maybe Leimert Park, Downtown La or Downtown Long Beach, just because those three areas have a large variety of food and activity spots that we could check out. I like taking my friends from out of town to food places that I frequent or have tried before just so I am able to tell them what’s good, places like FyreBird, Simply Wholesome, Tams etc. After we ate then I would take them to a nice view in San Pedro or Palos Verde, you can see a nice view of the ocean from both spots. If they wanted to shop then I would take them to specific stores to help them secure some drip but no spots I can disclose lol, a week long trip would also prompt me to take my friend on a day trip out of the city probably to San Diego or Oceanside just to explore more of the wonders of California.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
