We had the good fortune of connecting with Adriana Alvarenga and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Adriana, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
I met an amazing cake artist in instagram and got to watch her make cakes in front of me. After that I was fascinated by the art of making cakes. I used to be an event planner and always made treats, but cakes was something I hadn’t venture into yet. During my pregnancy I practiced making cakes on my own and made a few small cakes for some parties. After I had a very rough delivery during COVID. I made more cakes during my postpartum. Everyone loved the cakes and kept telling me to sell them, so I did. I then decided that I wanted to start making cakes officially. I came up with a new logo and started with small cakes, and took on big cake projects. A lot of new clients gave me so much trust on making their cakes. I was amazed by what I could do and how each of these cake came to life. My most favorite part is making the figurines and every little details of the cake. So much love goes into each cake. what made me push this business more, was how happy my clients were every time they received one of my cakes. That they love the rich, and moist cake flavor. I am so happy I get to share my talent and make this into a reality. That I am bringing joy to each important celebration no matter how big and small it may be. Each celebration means so much to me. Each cake and treat that comes out of my kitchen.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
My cakes are little pieces of me in every way. I get most excited when I get creative freedom to make a cake for a special celebration. I feel my figurines and details I put into my cakes is what makes my cakes so very special. Or whenever I get to make a unique design for a photoshoot. It was not easy getting to do what I do know, it took some challenges whenever a piece would break or it wouldn’t come out right. Lots of patience and practice and understanding the needs of a client that they want for their event. Listening to what theme is and making a design of cake that goes with their event. I have struggled a lot to get to be where I am today. I had two scary times where I almost died. While delivering my second baby and recently cancer. These two experiences have taught me the will to keep fighting but most of all to really live life and enjoy every moment no matter how small. As I am back to do what I love, I am forever grateful to be here. Make another kid smile with their birthday cake, show someone how much you love them with an anniversary cake, or the very joy of celebrating a baby shower or wedding. My cakes to bring very sweet memories to your special occasions.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
For me my heart is always on the snowy mountains or a lake. I love nature, we love visiting big bear, lake arrowhead and mammoth. Lake Tahoe as well. The quiet it is when you’re at the very top, and how busy it is every time you go to the village to shop or eat. Even on the summer days I love hiking and I venture to different places to the north of California to explore with my family. I love authentic Italian food and wine. And I love to visit new bakeries to taste new desserts.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My success wouldn’t be possible without the never ending support of my husband Fabel. He was the first one to help me get what I needed . He’s an amazing builder/carpenter. He built my backdrop for my cakes. Whenever I struggle with structure he gives me amazing ideas in how to build a solid foundation for my cakes. On heavy cake delivery he knows exactly how we can deliver such large cakes without any issues. He always looks for a way to upgrade my kitchen for better quality of my work and built me a mini cake studio. He always looks out for my health and takes cares of me. We always work as a team and we look for ways to always work Together. I am so happy I get to do what I do next to him.
