We had the good fortune of connecting with Ahida Correale and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Ahida, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
I actually never intended on starting a business. I began designing clothing with my mother and sister as something fun and interesting for us to do. We would trade ideas, search for new fabric, make dresses, bags, and other items, and gossip about design. This love and interest evolved organically and really took off as a business when my mask design took hold in social media. An idea turned into a gift that was posted on social media which garnered attention and requests then orders, and all of a sudden a business was born. It is almost feels like a cliche. I must have heard it a thousand times, “Just do what you love and wonderful things will happen.” Well, this happens to be a real life example.

What should our readers know about your business?
What am I most excited about? Well. it is as easy as it as complex. I am most excited about tomorrow and what it may bring. Everyday is a gift and I am very excited to see how I can help people, whether that is partnering with a charity or organization, or taking a client request to make a unique mask, shirt, hat or bag, or just reach work with my partners. You never know what will happen tomorrow, but you can be sure if you approach it by helping people, it will be gratifying.

I think any business owner will tell you that there is nothing easy about starting a business because it forces you to be uncomfortable to succeed. I am no accountant, but I had to learn accounting. I am no web designer, but I had to learn web design. It’s hard to make a business work, but if you care about and help clients, people, partners and employees, it makes it easy to get through the hard parts.

Starting, running, or exiting a business can you teach you so many things. Here are a few I picked up along the way….

Work with people you like, don’t work with people you don’t.
Just because one person says no, doesn’t mean someone else will.
Listen to others when you seek their advice, don’t go into the conversation with answers you want to hear.
Believe in yourself. If you don’t, why would anyone else.

My passion and love became my business and the people I get to interact with everyday makes my business a success.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Ha, so good! I LOVE LA. If my best friend and I were hitting the town, we would probably start at Alfred Coffee or Pop’s Bagel to get the morning started right. We would hit Melrose or Mid City to outdoor shop at Platform and check out our favorite hat designer, Janessa Leone. We might jump over to Venice in the afternoon to people watch at Felix or grab a margarita at Valle. We could wrap up the evening by catching a beautiful sunset in Palos Verdes at Mar’sel.

I have so much more that I could go on and on about, but that would definitely be day one.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My family for their support and everyone that took a chance on a new business (Amanda Kloots, Arielle Charnas, Emma Roberts, Kathleen Wogoman, Lauren Meichtry from Elsie Home, YourMomCares, The Elkin Girls, Greta Schmidt, Meg Telly)
