Meet Aiden Delfin

We had the good fortune of connecting with Aiden Delfin and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Aiden, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
I pursued filmmaking because I found it to be the best way for me to tell a story. I was never good at drawing, I can’t write, but I can tell a story with a camera. I’d always been surrounded by people who were really good at singing, music, or other forms of art and for a long time I’d struggled to find what I was good at until I found filmmaking. When I did find it I made sure to be the best I can be at it.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I’m a cinematographer attending Woodbury University in Burbank, CA. I have over 1000 hours of on set experience, and around 100 of those hours working as a cinematographer. I’ve gained a lot of technical knowledge from working on these film sets and have become well-versed in most aspects of filmmaking. For me, getting to where I am today wasn’t difficult, but it wasn’t easy. Coming into college I was a somewhat introverted person, but the film industry does not work like that, you need to network and talk to people. Over time I did become more extroverted and have made several friends on each set I work on. One of the biggest things I’ve learned from working in the film industry is that no matter how good you are at something, there’s going to be someone better than you. And that’s how everyone in the film industry succeeds, we learn from each other and teach each other. In the end we all have the same goal — make the best films we can make.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Maybe cliche, but I’ve always enjoyed the lookout spot at the Griffith Observatory. You get one of the best views of LA and the Hollywood sign. I also like malls so I’ll occasionally spend some time at the Glendale Galleria, Burbank Town Center, or the Americana. The Burbank Town Center also has some of the best bars and restaurants in the area, definitely worth taking a look.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
All of the teachers I’ve had in school that introduced me to film. My 8th grade history teacher, my high school film teacher, and all of my college film professors that have helped me get to where I am now. They all very much defined who I’ve become and supported my passion in film.
