Meet Aj Diaz | Creative & Entrepreneur

We had the good fortune of connecting with Aj Diaz and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi AJ, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
I’ve always been someone who looked at the whole picture when I was working. I wanted to know what everyone did and what everyone’s role was in the company. By doing that I was able to see where work was allocated and what the pay was. Then I would see how much the owners of the company were making annually. That right there showed me that I had to be on the path of becoming and owner and starting my own business.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I have recently started a new podcast called T.R.U.S.T. Podcast that’s I’m shooting with another good friend of mine Kent Smith, and I am super excited about it. We’ve already shot around 12 episodes. There’s only one way to get to where you want to get to in life and that’s thru goal setting and hard work. If you love what you do the work isn’t hard, it’s being consistent that becomes the hard work. There are always challenges and struggles along the way but as long as you work towards your goals daily, you’ll eventually check all those boxes and get there. Anything worth having you’re going to have to fight for and your professional career is no different. There will be ups and downs, highs and lows, but you have to get up, get back on that horse and stay focused on the prize. One thing I want the world to know about me is that I never quit, I never asked for a handout and that I did it MY way. Truly self made.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I have a lot of family that live in Houston and they come here often. So we’re going to go eat at places like Roscoe’s and Pann’s for sure. Nobu in Malibu. Craig’s and Maestro’s for some fine dining. Perch LA for a rooftop vibe. Tao is a must and we may head over to Highlight room next door to catch a vibe as well.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I wouldn’t be who I am without my mother. She molded and created the man I am today. For that she will forever be loved. Someone that has inspired me on my business journey is a good friend of mine Alex Alfaro. He was always pushing the boundaries and limits of what we could do and I think he always saw something in me even when I didn’t see it in myself. He definitely deserves a shoutout!
