We had the good fortune of connecting with Akın Kilis and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Akın, what role has risk played in your life or career?
In my opinion, risk is a very important topic. There are a lot of composition competitions in the world and in a year I apply to dozens of competitions. Also, I know from my friends in the art environment that the most important thing is consistency and practice. We have to take risks and apply to a lot of competitions, festivals, etc. However, we must work in proportion to that. Thus, we can feel relaxed and confident. There is a big difference between tolerance and patience. tolerance is a type of staying silent about the hard circumstances that we face. On the other hand, patience is a part of our success process. We should do our best and be patient with the results. We must comprehend the difference between them, always try our best insistently. Just practicing hard is not enough. We have to find a study method for ourselves. It is good to work in a planned way, to work less and to the point. Taking a break is as important as practicing. We can consider that we are in an imaginary school of ourselves. Discipline and consistency will help us.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I always try to compose a piece with a new concept. My identity, sometimes sense of humor can be found in my pieces. As a composer, I am excited about all I do with confidence and sincerity in my creative life. Well, of course it is not that easy but consistency and patience is very strong factors to strengthen one’s will. If you believe yourself and start to move, day by day you can feel close to your dreams. I think, people who want to achieve important things should not have trivial problems. Sometimes I think that people should comprehend important problems about the world but before that, they have to make their own consciousness revolution on a small or big scale. The art is very helpful with that because it is about unique aesthetic point of views. Sometimes I think that people should comprehend important problems about the world but before that, they have to make their own consciousness revolution on a small or big scale. Art is very helpful with that because it is about aesthetic perception and different points of view. Maybe I can not change everything by myself but I want to try my best for this cause. I want to leave a trace in the audience’s mind by creating what I want to create. I would to collaborate with many people from different kinds of music or different kinds of art.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
It is important that which type of person would be visiting the area. I would like to take my friend to a concert that would be common style in both pf our sense, and we probably start with going to walt disney hall first. We would go some indoor parties over on downtown LA. Would be good starting with Getty Museum or maybe camping would be good in Chatswood. If we have more mutual friends in our squad, I would definitely like to take them to no vacancy club at night.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
First of all, I want to thank my family because they unconditionally believed me every time. After that, I want to thank my supportive, sincere, honest best friends. Maybe, I can talk about “Martin Eden” by Jack London as a source of inspiration. This book is obviously for creative and productive people. (especially for people who are interested in art)
