We had the good fortune of connecting with Akshat Bagla and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Akshat, let’s start by talking about what inspires you?
Quite a few things actually. Talking about visual media cinema and anime have a huge impact on me, my life values and my creative/artistic process. They teach me about my craft and about life. To some anime might just be cartoons but there is so much more to it. As a 23 year old man those cartoons invoke emotions that most things can’t. They teach me the value of life, freinds and family. I have grown up watching movies, the first thing I remember is the intro of James Bond from when I was a little kid. Movies have had a solid impact on my creative approach as wel as technical aspects when it comes to photography and lighting. Second would be 90s Hip-Hop. It’s the truest for mom of lyrical music in my opinion. It’s raw and it’s gritty and it talks about nothing but the truth about life, and that’s what I aim to achieve through my photography the true essence of everything.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Nothing in life is easy or served to you On a silver platter., you got to get up and grab it and make it yours. When life gets hard you got to go harder. I am most proud of my fashion work that I have been doing for my company and some video projects that I have been doing for some rappers. It took me a while to get here but you gotta just stick to it and keep working hard and not give up. Am I satisfied with where I am, absolutely not but am I happy with where yes because it’s a great start and I’m on the right path.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Ok so New York has a ton different locations that I like it’s a perfect curation of the adventurer and foodie in me. Dumbo
The Metropolitan museum of art
China town
Pepsi Cola sign
Williamsburg
To name a few places . And for food
Ippudo ramen
Gyukaku
Izakaya mew
Kyma
Dim sum go go
To name a few of my favourites

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My mother and father, without there support I’d be nowhere. My great friends for their constant believe and push for me to do better and my elder cousin who introduced me to photography in the first place.
